I’m talking about debating DT recruiting on this board lol. Everyone cry’s about having multiple DT over 300 or complaining about DT recruits weighing 240 - 260. The truth is this defense only plays 1 true DT and that’s the nose, the other ”DT” in this scheme is a 4i (a big DE).

Also this defense does not call for a 320+ DT. Go read Anthony Kennedy interview again, he clearly states the staff wants him to lose weight. Ahmad Moten is another one who has trimmed down from 325 to 305 and there is no indication this staff wants him to put weight back on.

The defense wants twitchy guys who can penetrate (pause) not big 2 gapers. Georgia has large guys at NT because their defensive scheme requires the NT to 2 gap. This defense is designed to stop the run and pass in the backfield by getting upfield quickly.

So basically this defensive line features
2, 4i’s in the 275 - 290 range
1 NT in the 305 - 310 range
1 Standup rush 240 - 260

According to how Hetherman wants to run his defense, Miami is actually deep with former highly ranked recruits that have the necessary size and athleticism to execute upfront (pause).

There is a net positive of blue chip recruits at every position along the defensive line, now they have to show it on the field.
