DJ Coleman, DE/OLB, Jacksonville St.

He Learned from Ivins. Must be more to this kid than that meets the eye cause no school is really going after him. He didn’t exactly dominate that level.
That’s not true. Baylor, Missouri and a few others are recruiting him really hard. He has options.

Harvey has played in 22 games with 6 starts in his first 2 non redshirt years.

44 tackles
11.5 TFL
4 sacks
1 INT-TD

For a developmental DE that is not bad production at all. He wasn't an early impact type, always was going to need some weight and strength and development before making good impact.

Better Mario saying that front 7 trash than some of us.. We get called Mopes and ****.. lol..

I loved the "Zach McCloud was pRetTy gOoD bRo" guys.. they call you a mope when you say we small AF in front 7 and if a guy who was benched can move to position and snatch a starting spot in a couple practices, you got BIG problems.. especially on Dline.. Bring everybody **** it.. Throw numbers at this problem and see how it shakes out
Exactly. Just brining in new coaches isn’t going to make a bunch of jags into great players.

“They‘ll be better in the new scheme bro!”

These guys couldn’t generate pass rush in a defense that only asked them to rush the passer on every down. Zach McCloud was our best defensive end last year. No offense to Zach but on a good defensive line, he’s a situational player at best.

They wouldn’t be bringing in wholesale changes through the portal if they thought a scheme change would be enough to make this defense good.

Lets not go there. Harvey absolutely was not a development DE. He was not the DE version of "Jalar Holley". LOL. Stop. Did we expect him to be Joe Jackson when he came in as a freshman? No. But we absolutely expected AND NEEDED him to make a major impact on last years defense as a 3rd year player. And he failed. Miserably.

Im fine with whoever the coaching staff bring in, they know the needs and will plug holes as & when. We all know we're short on depth, quality or both in certain areas so if a players brought in then it must be to improve on what we've already got. This staff knows what they are doing ;-)

Disagree. You may have expected him to contribute at a higher level, but he wasnt some 5 star or borderline 5 star DE coming out of high school. He was an undersized DE with a quick first step weighing around 225 when he got to Miami. If you placed unrealistic expectations on him that's on you.

And for starting 5 games last season: 26 tackles/6.5 TFL/2.5 sacks/1 INt TD isn't bad production.

Go look at the 247 DE's in his class he has outperformed many ranked higher than him so far.

That **** head coach had multiple DE's drafted in the top 3 rounds though
If we keep it 100. Jalen, Greg and Q would have been drafted that high if not higher no matter who their head coach was. They were studs period. Manny D *** gets no credit for their development. Don’t forget GR almost fell victim to the seniority bs until he just couldn’t be kept off the field.

You playing the "What if" game. I'm talking about reality. Who knows what these guys would've done under coach A, B, or C. We KNOW what they did for Manny, just like we know what these other guys on the roster DIDN'T do for Manny. Also, Y'all keep spewing that same tired line about GR as if he wasn't coming off an injury. Like...y'all realize GR was taking snaps against LSU in game 1 when he was a true freshman right? But yeah, the staff didn't want to play him over seniors.

Joe Jackson and Jonathan Garvin both shined early-on, and maybe Harvey wasn't quite as highly rated of a recruit (don't precisely recall), but for one in year 3 who was asked to simply get up field and make plays - there wasn't a whole lot of playmaking.
I recall a sense of excitement when Harvey inked, and last year AT LEAST was somewhat disappointing. Not a bust, but definitely on the clock - and no shoe-in to start at a position with 'Help Wanted' signs posted everywhere.
