Dixon is #1 WR Target

I just have a hard time worrying about this years WR class. Right now we have

Hurns
Scott
Dorsett
Waters
Lewis eventually back at 100%
Coley
Carter

Only Hurns and maybe Dorsett leaving

We are bringing in at least Langham and Dixon. I think we got good shots at Berrios and Rudolph. With kids like Sam Bruce and both Irvins etc. in the mix the next few years Lane or other remaining elite WRs in this class just don't seem like a priority at the moment.

That's it right there. Recruiting boards shouldn't be looked at in 1 or even 2 year timeframes. What if the staff likes Dorsett and Lewis in the slot better than Berrios, but also have next year's slot WRs projected ahead of him? There are at least 3 top notch slot guys in SoFla next year. Sam Bruce, as one example, is extremely impressive. Tim Irvin is another.

Sam Bruce is 2016, no? You don't make plan for the 2016 kid, that's asking for trouble!

Interesting thought.

I think that Braxton Berrios is the best WR on our board right now (discounting E. Lane). I think Berrios has the potential for the most immediate impact. That said, I like Dixon's potential long term ceiling a little better.

I don't think Berrios even touches Rudolph's potential. I understand you put it in the context of immediate impact, but I'm not seeing how. I suppose you mean through the slot position, except I suspect we'll see Dorsett and Malcolm Lewis in there quite a bit.

i've seen you be a heavy backer of rudolph, what it is about his game that makes you separate him from the others.

i like him, but i sorta feel like he and lane are overrated. i don't see 'special' in either yet so many people do. just curious what you see in him as far as your evaluations go. feel free to offer a player you think he compares to as well.

I thought he was a 2015 kid. In either case, I mentioned "as one example." You don't lose sleep for losing a slot WR, especially when you have two excellent ones on your campus and your program is located in South Florida.

Not saying it's a plan just that we have been getting elite WR talent every cycle since I can remember. We've missed on Amari Cooper right in the middle of this NCAA stuff and on Lane in what appears to be odd circumstances related to QW and his SFE buds. IMO Lewis, pre injury, looked a lot like Cooper. I just don't see the point in flipping out over Lane since we are leading or have verbals from some elite guys. Especially since it is going to be real tough for any incoming Fr to get on the field the next two seasons.

My point is only that the position is sort of locked up until those cycles anyways and that the talent there is equal or better.

Acceleration out of his breaks and extremely clean hands. If I'm a college WR coach, I think I can help develop him into an NFL player.

Of recent college players, his attributes remind me of Robert Woods. Not flashy, I guess. He's not Marqise Lee. But, he's the type of WR I think every team needs.

gotcha. i'd agree with that description of being the type of wr every team needs but not necessarily being flashy. he sorta reminds me of a guy like tavarres king up at uga. very productive, very clean, and sure handed. i guess i just felt he was overrated because he's now being touted as possibly being a top 50-75 type player by the end of the year and i just don't see that. i believe lane is overranked as well. but i guess the thing to keep in mind is all these kids have room to grow their games.

Does it really matter what # he is.... It is pretty obvious the staff wants 1 or 2 more WRs in this class and it doesn't particularly matter which we land out of that top flight group. If you pick two of the names outta a hat and you aren't happy Miami gets them.... You must be loco.

The amount of talent we're stacking is approaching absurd levels. Had totally forgotten big DG, who has freakish miss match written all over him.

I believe #1 just so happens to be his current football number in HS too. I also believe it will be available next year once Hurns graduates! These are all signs! Come on Johnnie, commit already!!! The U wants you!!! Be a Cane!

One thing is clear, well two. Whoever comes to THE U will play in NFL as WR. And whoever goes to the swamp scum has 50/50 chance of being failure in NFL or big star in prison. Can we all agree on that?

You couldn't be further off....

You actually might be able to prove this statistically...

I like Berrios and think he can be a very good college player.

Rudolph I believe has real pro potential however.

I'm not sure Dixon is that great. I'd rank Rudolph 1, Berrios and Dixon 2a and 2b.

we don't need pros. we need good college players.

it sounds selfish, but if I had to pick between players having a better collegiate or professional career, I would prefer players to have a better college career.

\but of course I want Miami athletes to succeed everywhere.

I do think we are going to take 2 more WRs
I would like Lane and Dixon

But if we get Dixon and another WR I am going to wait to see who it will be...It could be Berrios but lets remember
other recruits could emerge. The bulk of the class is put together but other prospects will emerge..

I do believe that 1 or 2 WR will bolt for attrition purpose after this season and even spring Work outs

So lets just see what happens..

I don't disagree but my comments on Rudolph are re his ability, potential and upside. And generally speaking, the better the pro, the better the college career -- especially at the skill positions, IMO. Not always, but generally.
