Discussion: future starting O-line

I like what you did there with the G’s. Most ppl would put Scaife on the left side. It if he’s on the right he is there to help Campbell out at RT. Good Balance here I think could happen. Only thing that would stop this is if they shirt Clark to allow space with him and Gaynor. He wouldn’t take over the C spot until he was a senior.
Glad you caught that. I put Scaife next to Campbell for exactly that reason.

If we're allowed to shirt Clark that'll mean another guard like Traore or Reed steps up and allows us to not need Clark this season. Which he probably needs a redshirt anyway. He was small coming in, hasn't gotten a full offseason with our S&C staff. It would ultimately benefit him and the program in the long run.

"Wouldn't be shocked if" is different than "I think the line should be". It's just a possibility not many have put down. I don't think anyone on the outside looking in can tell what the best combination is given a new scheme; let alone the inside.
My guy...... you didn't have Scaife in your "wouldn't be shocked"

I wouldn’t be surprised if Nelson wins a tackle spot again. Campbell looked good inside and there could be a legit reason he never took Nelson’s spot outside last season. Nelson was a true freshman that just put in 60 pounds. I can’t think of a less advantageous position to be in.

Wouldn’t be shocked if

Williams/Nelson
Campbell
Gaynor
Rivers/Clark
Nelson/Williams

With Rivers starting by end of season.

Scaife, bro.

He will. ...and they have the Twyman kid as well..but ppl just go....oh its Pitt. They have guys on that DL i felt we shouldve offered or landed

100%. Twyman, Weaver, and (probably) Jones will all be playing on Sundays. And Deslin Alexandre (Deerfield) is a guy who started in Weaver's place last year and did pretty well, and he'll probably just be a rotation guy for them this season.

People act like all of these mid-tier ACC teams are devoid of talent and are just going to walk into the stadium and give up their a$$e$ to UM at the coin toss.

If Rashad Weaver comes back strong from his acl injury last year, that Pitt DL should be top 15 in the country. Some legit NFL talent on that DL.
I'm glad someone else is recognizing it, because if fans think we won't be playing some tough stout veteran DL's this season, they're in for a rude awakening.

Pitt, UVA, Wake Forest, Mich St & Duke all have some good DLineman, especially Duke with Chris Rumph & Victor Dimukeje will be our toughest matchup for our OL this season. Most will sleep on them because it's Duke, but those boys gets after it & are disruptive.

That's why it was imperative we get a GT OT this season, the idea of Zion/Herbert having to take on some of these matchups we'll see on the Edge this year was a nightmare scenario. I'm glad Lash & Justice got Jarrid.

Luckily for us even with how good some of the other ACC DL's are, Miami is even more loaded than them, they're all good, but we're GREAT & have loads of Depth, so if we put up points while going uptempo we'll put our DL in the best spot to play with a lead & go hunt.

Not saying Barry is full of **** but I was told nothing is close to be decided, there hasn’t been one practice so how could it be cemented he’s playing rt or lt ? They’re going to try him at both and he’s working on both positions in his workouts.

Imo left tackle makes the most sense but practice will decide everything.

I'm assuming the most logical approach is some practice before evaluation...

Campbell took a big step forward in spring but Williams only played rt at Houston because of a really good lt already there. But yeah , it makes sense to try guys out and see what fits , it doesn’t make sense to have positions handed out in freaking June. Sometimes I wonder about Barry Gibb.
