Discussion: future starting O-line

So does this mean Donaldson will play 4 games and chill or no games at all?

Walker needs a full season in the S&C program, he may be the most talented in terms of upside, but if you've seen what he looks like as of recently he's super thin & clearly needs to get stronger.

But if yall wanna throw 2 more TF's out there on the OL again this year & expect different results, just be careful what you wish for... Having a multiple 18 year olds on the line going up against some of the grown *** men we face in the Coastal this year at DLine is not a receipe for success.

The kids need time to maturate & develop, throwing them on the field too early won't help them or us.

When walker left UF he was super thin , you’d never guess he plays ol.

Nelson last year versus walker now and Zion takes his lunch money. Walker is a better long term prospect but as we’ve said he’s not ready. Work him in slowly and hopefully still be able to shirt.

Why are people so sold on Traore? He seems to have come out of nowhere, and everyone is penciling him in as a lock. I doubt we'll see Walker start at LT right away. I'd put Williams at LT and try Campbell at RT. If Campbell can't handle a T spot, move him to G where he looked pretty good at the end of the year and put Scaife back out at RT.
THIS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jarrid Williams is starting at LT. He didn’t come here for anything less. Please guys use your heads.

Not having spring ball and a complete summer workouts. No true freshman should be starting. If any of them are starting game 1. We have a serious problem at the OL position.

What they did to Zion last year was criminal , one of the most fd up things I’ve ever seen from corches. They threw a true freshmen ol out there that was raw to the position , 285 pounds , against a top ten defense while not chipping or running max protection. One of the maddest moments I’ve had as a fan. Immediately I was suspect of penos.

Everybody should be back next year on the O-line. There's no need to start a freshmen if we don't need to this year. If at all possible, red shirt the freshmen after getting 4 games under their belt.

and we still shouldve won

Lt: Campbell (most body ready and athletic lineman)
Lg:Traore ( Clark is better but staff probably tries to rs)
C:gaynor
Rg: scaife (best lineman we have by far)
Rt:Williams

Add the fact we had Jarren doing 5-step drops. It was pure insanity. Zion got killed for his play last year but no other player was put in a worst position than Zion.

I fully understand that Williams natural position is RT.

But I really can’t see how he doesn’t at least start the year at LT. He just has to. The only way he doesn’t, IMO, is if Justice thinks that Nelson or Campbell have made MAJOR strides from what he saw on film last year. We’re not starting a true freshman at LT after the kid has been doing god knows what during a quarantine.

In a perfect world, Campbell or Nelson make that jump and lock that spot and you can put Williams at RT (his best/natural spot) and Scaife at RG (his best/natural spot). I won’t hold my breath, though. Williams starts at LT. If we have to start a true freshman on the line AGAIN, we’re screwed royally.

But can he play LT? That’s the question. I’m more inclined to go with Walker at LT. If the hole was at RT then Walker is in the rotation but catching a shirt.
I don't think he's yet ready but do think he will see action this year.

The good news is we have some options and probably won’t have to have any Freshmen starting. Last year we had 2 True Freshmen, Campbell was RS-Fr and Gaynor was a first time starter.

I agree about Campbell really looking good at G. Watched him Vs Duke and he was winning his matchup while everyone looked like Turnstiles.

Watching Williams and I really think he has a great skill set for LT.

LT - Williams -Nelson
LG - Clark/Traore
C - Gaynor-Clark
RG - Scaife-Reed
RT - Campbell-Herbert

I hope that Rivers will get some game reps this year. I’m not sure where his best position will be at G or T, but he’s a beast and will be very good down the road.

IMO Donaldson was a liability a lot of last year. He was overweight and had a hard time moving. A long way from his HS tape sprinting down the field.

I’m excited to watch week 1 and see the difference in the scheme and experience of the Line.

Your 100% right all of these guys need a redshirt year. Ill let them play their 4 games but they need to redshirt.

And i wouldnt burn one of their games on Wagner. 1 G5 game (UAB or Temple but not both) and the other 3 on P5 games. We cant keep burning eligibility years with these guys. I really feel for a guy like Scaife he shouldnt have played his freshman year. The kid is a warrior and a baller but we wasted a year of his eligibility.

With Donaldson taking an RS I thought it would be a good idea to explore what our O-line would look like.

LT: Issh Walker/Campbell
OG: Traore/Campbell
C: Gaynor
OG: Scaife
RT: Williams

I feel if there was any year to start a freshman LT that it would be this year. The last thing I want is to go into next year with a new starter at LT which I think Issh will probably get the nod. The talent is too much to pass and he doesn’t have the strength/technique issues Nelson has. I would lean on playing him at minimum half the year at LT.
