At enormous risk to themselves. In a system stacked against them.

Whether you think the were guilty or not, do not delude yourself into thinking our system affords a reasonable opportunity for most charged with crimes to contest their alleged guilt. Prosecutors can amp up the ‘or else’ threat to a place where almost anyone sane would just take a deal. Our criminal justice system is an embarrassment to our country’s alleged principles.

Personally, based on whats been made available, I strongly suspect they're guilty.

Having said that, they deserve the presumption of innocence the same as anyone else. I also know people's inhibitions drop when they're sloppy drunk and they may not remember things correctly.

There are dozens of factors to consider. If they're guilty, they're doing community service and are registered *** offenders. If they're not, they've learned an important lesson in the consequences of bad judgment.

Valid points. But there is also the possibility that they actually did what they were charged with, right? You seem to be very dismissive of that.

so it can't be that they did what they were accused of? its always the system and ASAs stacking the deck against them?

Not buying it? How about climate change then? That seems to be causing all sorts of things.

The simple fact is is that some people are willing to excuse any transgression as long as the perpetrator is on the right side. Oh, and there's a segment of the population who take "Devil's Advocate" as a default approach.

Stand up guy for throwing presumption of innocence out the window.

A couple of kids with no legal help are given a choice between community service and courses or the possibility of prison....hmm...
