did we have the #1 offense in the country last year?Mendoza has a sound offensive system that has been tested over many different teams at many different levels of college football
The other has an offensive system that is has failed over and over again
Not defending Beck, but lets not think Mendoza wouldn't look like ish here either
Mendoza let's it rip. Beck does not.
Not a doubt in my mind… beck looks like crap this year playing this slow methodical offense which chooses to drain the clock to the point of a delay of gameY’all are ******* delusional if you think Mendoza would look the same at Miami like he does Indiana
If you bothered to know a few porsters on a deep personal level, these tidbits would have been revealed in group therapy sessions.View attachment 342067
Wow, Wasn’t he the kid at cal last year , supposedly UM fan ? What gives
thoughts
(Beck has played tougher schedule imo)
As I’ve stated for the past several weeks, the scheme is designed to protect Beck and try to hide the fact that he isn’t good.
You can’t force a system that your qb can’t run without turning the ball over multiple times a game.
We would not be running this offense th same way if we had a qb that could stretch the field and get the ball to multiple receivers without interceptions.
^ This. I saw Mendoza play in Berkeley last year. He was mid asf. Not horrible, but not impressive. Looked like a complete game manager.Mendoza has a sound offensive system that has been tested over many different teams at many different levels of college football

Thank you for the narrative after the graph. Those weird new graphs make my head spin. Mock me all ya want, it's just the plain truth.View attachment 342090
Beck is doing things in crucial moments that hurt us but against much stiffer comp he really hasn't played much worse than Mendoza. Hes been better on late downs. I dont think Fernando Mendoza is a better QB than Beck overall regardless of scheme. I think he has just been on a team with a better offensive identity and played weaker comp. Mendoza did play well against Oregon but Beck was pretty awesome against ND and FSU. So I dont know but I dont think we are better with Mendoza provably the same or worse.
beck really leads the country in picks? yeesh
Who’d thunk Mike freaking Bobo’s offense would’ve gotten more out of Beck even with how awful their wr drops was and mediocre OL. Wild times .
@DMoney was on Mendoza from the start.I was in favor of bringing Mendoza in during the portal window after we lost out on Mateer, although I did not anticipate he would be as good as he is. I think it would be fair to say CiS generally was not big on Mendoza (with some exceptions like @PIPO).
I believe IU modified its offense some for him to go RPO heavy. Mendoza makes really good decisions out of RPO and they run a lot of outside and inside zone off that. Mendoza is also just enough of a running threat.
Shannahan is a **** good offensive coordinator, so it is hard to know how Mendoza would have done here. But I suspect he would have been at least as good as Beck (probably better) and much less expensive. Also, Mendoza's brother has looked really good when he's gone in for mop up duty.
We are lucky Angeli tore his Achilles and is out because he would’ve done the same as McCord last year the way our DBs are giving cushions.Cuse does have lbs that are big and can just hammer down though so i dont expect some rushing offensive explosion....also their dbs arent bad an fran brown is a db coach he is gonna dare beck to beat us.....i havent looked but if this is a three score spread im taking syracuse.
Nah I was on Mendoza from the rip . I was not on Beck and argued with people about him. Now I somewhat came around on him when I heard the other options lol. But every post you’ll see of mine was be prepared for Beck and his bipolar play. I was never a fan.@DMoney was on Mendoza from the start.
I was a “No” initially when his name came up before he entered the portal.
I believe @Cribby and a few others were a “No” on the outset and then changed their minds before Mendoza made a decision.
Then as time went, we joined D$ on the Mendoza train. He took a big leap from the year before, is smart as ****, mobile when he needs to be and improved his INTs from 10 to 6 when he didn’t have much help around him at Cal.
In the end he was just a kid that did more with less and now that he has more in Indiana, he’s taken off.
Of course, Mario, like everything, over thought it and ****ed it up. Maybe if he had a timeout and 25 seconds, maybe he could’ve pull it off.
