Did Boston College perform a better coaching search than Miami?

The only requirement needed to be a HC at Miami are....
Do not interrupt the cash flow of ACC checks and run the program as cheap as possible.

A drunk guy at a bar looking for the first willing human with a ****** is more diligent in his search than Blake James was in his HC search.

Three, the guy had been a lifetime position coach prior to his 1 year stint with OSU as CO-defensive coordinator with Greg Mattison, so we know who was calling the shots there.

Swinney & Meyer were lifetime position coaches prior to getting their first gigs...matter of fact, they had less experience than Hafley.

True. But this logic is no different than when ppl say "well X coach went 6-6 his first year at X university and now they're the top of the game". Guys like that are the exception to the rules

BC can afford to be patient with a first time HC and a rising coordinator. Miami ( manny’s words) “ is ready to compete right now”
We don’t got that kinda time and for the price we paid should be able to beat FIU or Dook J/s

The idea of success at BC is playing spoiler every once in a while. The fact that the crown jewel on their highlight reel is a 35 yr old hail mary shows you that.

That said, yes, they performed a better search.

Boston College poached a rising star in Todd Hafley. Ohio State co-defensive coordinator. Bucks has been pretty legit. But point is, Boston College went out and searched for candidates and went with the guy they felt was best. Blake James hasn’t performed a true coaching search since he stepped foot in Coral Gables. If manny was the guy after a search, greats but the point is make sure you are flipping every stone to make sure you are hiring the “best” guy. Just irritates me that Boston college did things better than Miami.
Imagine hiring a first year coach who was a DC with no actual HC expri...wait a gotdamnminute

School hired the Associate AD from Ohio St to run the athletic department so yes, they give a crap about sports there.

What we have is an athletic director that doesnt know how to direct any sport to winning at a high level. The only thing i keep hearing flake james is good at is raising money, if so, than he needs to be somewhere in the finance dept. away from anything related to sports. But also, im not sure how that's True that flake I s good at raising money, seems to me, the money actually started pouring in at a high premium when coach richt got here, let's see how well that goes with coach diaz at the helm, we got a bunch of know noithing b.o.t.'s and a know nothing so called a.d. and the only thing he's directing is everything sports related into the ground. He makes weak hires to only feel in comtrol, right out of ole troll shalala's castration playbook! Coach diaz best chance at making sure that doesnt happen to him is to deal with anything related to ineptness now. Cause if we look like a limping program come next year, the hand writing will beon the wall!

True, but that's an untapped pool.

I believe there are just as many qualified position coaches as there are coordinators for HC positions.

****, most OC's are nothing more than glorified QB coaches.

Boston College went after a "rising star" last go-around and that didn't work out.

Steve Addazio was supposed to be some offensive smart guy, coming in having been on Meyer's staff at Florida. He flopped.

Also, pretty funny to label Jeff Hafley a "rising star" having taken the Boston College gig, as he'd have gotten laughed out of the room if this was Miami's hire.

Talk all the trash you want about Diaz, as it's deserves after 6-6—but the guy had more of a resume than this kid—including three years running Miami's defense.

Dude spent ONE YEAR in Columbus as a co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach—with a few short NFL secondary stints here and there—before winding up at Ohio State.

This hire is an absolute crap shoot for them. Hardly a home run hire; even by Boston College standards.

If this is all they wound up with after some "search"—it ain't much.

Solid recruiter—when bringing guys to Columbus, Ohio to play for a national power. We'll see how easy that pitch is in Chestnut Hill.

What team didn't do a better coaching search then us? In the past decade maybe only Tennessee did worse than us
