Diaz, Brown To Be On Sidelines This Season

he Hurricanes released their weekly game notes in advance of Saturday's contest with Florida A&M at Hard Rock Stadium (6 p.m. ET, ESPN3) on Monday and Diaz was listed as a coach that would be on the sidelines along with offensive coordinator/running backs coach Thomas Brown.

Diaz coached down on the field when he was at Mississippi State and with three the Hurricanes expected to start three freshmen linebackers this season the move makes plenty of sense. Brown however was up in the box when he was at Georgia, which means that he'll now have to rely on quarterback coach Jon Richt to relay him information from a above.

Richt will be joined in the booth by cornerbacks coach Mike Rumph and tight end/special teams coach Todd Hartley, per the notes.

Miami had just one coach not on the field last season and that was defensive backs coach Paul Williams.

LSU's Les Miles revealed on Monday that he plans to have all of his full-time assistant coaches on the sidelines this season. He is believed to be one of the first head coaches to make that decision.

I like it.

I'm sure CMR trusts his son more than anyone to be his eye in the sky.

Keep the firey Banda on the sideline and the technician Rumph in the booth.

Cue this being the justification for our success or the glaring evidence of our downfall on every single play.

Good...
Keep the bag man in the booth, I hope when the camera cuts to them Hartley is the only one in there with shades on.

I'm not sure whether I prefer the coordinators in the booth or on the field...

Cant they do both ?

I might try out putting assistants in 2 or 3 different places during the game. See what works best.

The FAMU game is when you need to try different things. If something doesn't work than it can be abandoned once the Canes start playing real opponents.

Diaz on the field no question. Linebackers need him.

Hahaha. No worries on the later as it can be simply remedied by sending one or both up to the booth where they then can claim a better perspective and hence possible better results. What I'm truly concerned about is what color shoes Richt will be wearing on the sidelines.

Doesn't matter, remember when Dorito went to the booth. Everyone said oh, he will now be able to see everything and the whole field! LULZ
