Diaz updates injuries, talks recruiting ahead of VT

Coachspeak Translation- Jordan is a pu$$y and could play through whatever is ailing him if he really wanted to; whether he sacks up and plays depends on how motivated he is feeling on Saturday morning. Maybe the other players can convince him since I'm not having any luck.
Or he had Covid and was kept out against his will. You guys are super reckless with the trash you throw at our players.

Maybe I’m wrong, certainly don’t know the kid and not an insider, but it kinda appears like Brevin has mailed it in.

Yeah. You’re wrong. And it’s a shame you miserable ******** have anointed such a good hardworking ambassador for the program as your new target for the misplaced anger and sadness you’ve accumulated in your failed lives.

According the Miami Herald, Jordan is healthy. According to Manny Diaz, Jordan was healthy for NC State.

"Junior tight end Brevin Jordan, who was described as “healthy” by coach Manny Diaz this week and was expected to play after missing the last two games with a shoulder injury, remained unavailable."

Weird that Jordan would have COVID all this time and yet Diaz is saying he's healthy. Why would he lie about it or keep it a secret- because he's secretly trying to tank Jordan's draft stock so he comes back next year? That's some diabolical stuff by Diaz if that's the case.

I hate to write this but I sincerely think Brevin's presence or lack thereof over the next 4 games is the difference between 3-1/4-0 and 2-2. I think he is that impactful when playing, and equally impactful in his absence. Not to knock Mallory, but the ability to play with 2 tights ends of high caliber is almost impossible for college defenses. One of them is always matched up against an overmatched safety or a slow linebacker when both are on the field. Kind of like when the Patriots were using Hernandez and Gronk at the same time. It's a matchup nightmare.

I hope I am wrong because King has the potential to carry the team, but it's a lot to ask of King as the competition improves.
As nice as it would be to have him back (and some on here say we've seen his last game - Manny's mystery answer kind of plays into that), since Jordan's departure (and all those targets), Harley has improved his game. Hopefully that continues. I think as you say, King's ability and will makes Mallory adequate to keep the offense clicking.

I rarely attack other posters. But you guys criticizing Jordan are straight out douche bags. This is the kid that convinced Phillips and Martell to transfer to the U. He loves Miami and is a warrior.

My brother and I were watching that play Jordan got injured on, and when he walked off the field, his shoulder was drooping. My brother had a separated shoulder in high school and immediately noted the droop and said, "This was exactly what happened to me. Bevin just separated his shouldet. He'll be out for 4-6 weeks." TIFWIW.

p.s. the only positive out of this is he may come back in 2021. here's hoping.

I used to think you were pretty bright. You realize Jordan was injured right and "healthy" could be in reference to that injury? You realize that they are constantly testing and tracing for Covid and "healthy" on Monday could be "out" on Wednesday? You realize Diaz never specifically comments on players and their Covid availability right?

Jordan was healthy enough to play until he either tested positive for Covid or got contact traced.

Hol’ up....

So Diaz says he like the QBs we have on campus, YET, he went through the transfer portal this season, and says, “if necessary”, will use the portal again to “make the team better.”
Make that make sense? Lol.

First off, not having a QB or CB in this class in the month of November absolutely is ?able. We trying to get better for the long run. Can’t keep relying on these band aids.

Brevin's draft stock is falling a good 1-2 rounds minimum. Needs to have a serious think about coming back another year
Why would he come back to risk injury again? He’s gone and he’s deciding on if he’s going to play again this season.

What’s the difference in getting a JR or SR QB out the portal vs a high school kid being a JR or SR before he’s ready to help the team win?

You are right. I was wrong. I shouldn't have jumped to a conclusion without knowing more. I wasn't aware the policy was not to reveal if players have Covid. What you said fills in the blanks- if Jordan was healthy but did not play, then his absence wasn't injury related. If not injury related, then probably Covid related. If contact traced, policy is 14 days quarantine. So maybe it's gamesmanship by Diaz to say Jordan might play. I don't believe it's possible to get out of quarantine early even if testing negative.

The point is to develop your own. How’s that going to happen when we r constantly fishing in the portal, which is a crap shoot? No FBS school should be relying on the portal as a fall back plan for recruiting failures. U can’t just be like “aw shucks; no DBs recruited? That’s fine; we’ll just check the portal.” “Oh so we have sucked at recruiting & developing our QBs here? That’s fine; we’ll just check the portal.”

D King has been good for us, but let’s not act like we didn’t hit the portal last season for a QB that didn’t turn out so well. Portal players r like JUCO players; some r really talented that experienced poor coaching or not given a fair shot....while others think they are talented, and lost their position b/c they are not as good as they think they are.

Our portal game has been up & down. I would rather we go the route of our own evaluation & development.

These are different times man. The mentality of these kids is way different today. For a school that is not in the most optimum position financially, and can't buy recruits, the portal can in many ways serve as an equalizer. The best players on this current team are all transfer players, and they would be, even if MIA recruited well. I'm not trying to abdicate responsibility for recruiting failures, but for MIA to contend, the transfer portal has to play an integral role when it comes to the composition of the roster.

It doesn't make sense trying to think about the long term quality of life for a patient if he's currently bleeding profusely. You have to focus on stopping the bleeding 1st

I’m saying Justin Fields, King, Burrows, Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, and Jalen Hurts are reasons that you don’t need to get a high school kid and spend 3 years developing him.

It’s not about covid , if you look at brevin tweets you can see he ready to play and the coaches think he heathy enough but I think the team doctors are holding him back and being extra cautious with him.

Unless you're contract-traced out.
