Diaz Joe Rose 10.4.21

I didn't even make this up, made me laugh:

Diaz on the play against Tyler Van Dyke: “It really, truly was his first real start. Bronco Mendenhall is going to make things hard on a young quarterback. It is just what he does.
Why doesn’t Manny or Miami ever “make things difficult” for an opponent

I’ve been done for a while I just can’t listen and watch this guy pretend like he isn’t a failure

"the effort is not the issue with the missed tackles. he says the issue is the leverage. the defense isn't playing with the trust to send the ball back to the pursuit for other guys to clean up if a tackle is missed."

that's a very roundabout way of saying the players don't trust themselves or their teammates to make a tackle. how can he possibly think that this answer makes things better?

So about the lack of traditional pass rush lanes and contain in your defensive scheme coach…
That is by design with his havoc mentality.

The breakdown is lack of positioning to make tackles. D is almost always one step early or late for a full wrap. EVERY D makes a shoe string tackle on Miami O, Canes D rarely does the same.

Same interview answers after every loss, which has now become every P5 opponent we face.
I would like to know when is he and his staff going to address these issues that come up week after week?
My guess, since he has been unable to address them in the 3 years he's been here, he has no clue how to fix this mess.
Why the **** is he still here?

"Leverage"??? That's Manny bs.

You put your head across "the bow" and wrap up with both arms and drive through the man.

If you come in too high, you get run over, I guess that's bad leverage. Or if you block the opposing player instead of tackling the ball carrier, that's bad leverage too. Lol

My favorite Mandyism is him trying to convince everyone that this isn't who they are, as a team and coaching staff. And that somehow this is just a bad stretch

When we have a 3 year sample size now
Unfortunately this is coach speak for "I don't have any answers for why we suck but I'm going to keep trotting out the same guys over and over again but I have no idea wtf I'm doing." Go watch the Dolphins pressers from yesterday - it's eerily similar.
