Desperation is Strong Here

Im not worried about what the rest of you fans say because if Golden wins ten games everybody thats talking s**t will put their foot in their mouth.

One problem from the message board perspective is the arrogance, tone and extremes that people use when making their posts. Also when posters allude to certain elements like race (is Golden going to be fired after this year like Randy was after his 4 years), politics (Shalala) or that the NCAA investigation had no impact (the "cloud"), it doesn't exactly set a tone for reasonable discussion.

I'm not sure I read a lot of people saying Golden is infallible or deserves a life time contract because he is an awesome coach.

I don't think saying he has dealt with a lot more than the average coach has to deal with in his time at Miami so far is an unreasonable, homer or slurper statement. None of that changes that he still needs to start winning.

And.....since some of you clearly forgot --- it is not about being right.....it is about Miami winning football games.

I think this post right here exemplifies the issue with a lot of the garbage being posted on here lately. You start your post by referring to posters who take too "extreme" a stance....and then you turn around and refer to Golden as an "awesome" coach.

Forget awesome...if we put all emotion aside and look at the fact, the body of work, and the game by game details....he's below average at best.

Go find some perspective before you post something like this. You're right in that the only thing that matters is wins...and as Canes fans that's all we all want....but to ignore the fact that fraud of a coach is 1-11 against the only 12 teams he's played that have finished with winning records is the definition of ignorance.

The simple fact that at the END OF THIS THIRD FULL YEAR we manage to get blown out by the 18th best team in the country despite the fact we had 30 full days to prepare for the game tells you everything you need to know about the direction of the trend.

I think he is saying no one thinks the above.

As for the 30 days, did they have 30 days to prepare? This doesn't excuse the fact that we sucked in the game but it's not like during the regular season where one team has an open week (more time to prepare) than the other team who just played an opponent.

Exactly what I am saying.

No one is saying he is an awesome coach. They are saying 2014 is a make or break year for him. Some say it with 3rd grade insults and 6th grade humor. Others say it in terms of, the dude had to deal with some ****, thanks for that, but its time to show this ship is actually moving in the right direction on the field.

Poster misreads post reading through I Hate Golden glasses, then flips out. Proving the point that people are too extreme.

It's always the same offenders. They have one agenda, to bash golden at all angles. It has no effect on anything. It's selfish. All it does is spoil the conversation.

Look, you and Donna go cheer for the goddam debate team.

This is a site about Miami Football.

Now you candyasses may find it perfectly acceptable to go to Prom the ugliest, extreme bucktoothed, assymetrical, knobby-legged, hunchbacked, one-eyed, big eared, retarded girl with a pimple that looks like a third eye, if you want to.

Some of us have some standards. Standards that have been attained five times. Standards attained from **** near scratch under both Schnellenberger and Davis.

Standards.

You call this siht - MIAMI Football standards? What's wrong with you? You guys 15 years old?

OP I actually agree with you about our coaching. It is very average to say the least. However there are many ways to be successful. Some teams have great coaching (Auburn, Vanderbilt) as opposed to dominant players. Other teams have elite players which can overshadow the coaching and where you can call any play and they will make it work. ( FSU, 01-02 Miami, 07 LSU). It is very rare where you find elite coaching with dominant players and what that happens you get multiple championships and a large period of success (Saban/ Alabama , Urban/ UF). With that being said , I don't believe we have elite talent or great coaching. I think for us to be dominant with Golden at the helm we need the best players and that means finding a way to land elite players such as Valentine, Dalvin Cook, Amari Cooper and etc.... We are getting there slowly but surely. We have talent on our roster and have a great group coming in. I think this is Goldens best roster and arguably our best roster in a long time. How good? We will definitely find out.

He also ignored the fact that the 1-11 record against teams with winning records is completely wrong as has already been pointed out in this thread. Georgia Tech, North Carolina and Pittsburgh all finished with winning records last year. Sure, he should have a couple more wins, but making up bull**** and arguing it as fact completely takes away from any valid points you're trying to make. This isn't Fox News. Both sides have valid points, but they're lost when the conversation moves to fake stats, name calling and manipulating comments

There's a big difference between butthurt and realism.

Stick a knife up urass - that's butthurt.

Twist it - that's realism.

LOL @ "the whole blaming shalala thing is stupid".

I swear our fanbase is the dumbest in the nation. Ya guys she has nothing to do with it. Our athletic directors (focus on the "s" behind director) have flourished here.

So we've had multiple athletic directors. They've gone on to take jobs at institutions such as Nebraska that offered double what we could pay, and has an athletic budget and endowments FAR in excess of what a small school like Miami has. The other was never comfortable in Miami and left to get back closer to home.

So in your genius and amazing insight, what exactly, give me specifics, has Shalala done that is negative towards the football program?

How in the **** did you get that he called Golden an awesome coach from what he actually said? You are a perfect example of what he's talking about...sprinkling in a touch of ****** reading comprehension on top. You are so ******* negative that you cant even read his post correctly. Wow.

The fact that you don't grasp the role of a university President is pretty much all I need to know about you.
Keep beatin' that drum though, it's a good respite from the circle jerk you reside in.

I like the genius part - thanks.

Donna - and yes, I know it's you - you made some bad choices on coaches, each of which takes years to correct when you make a ****poor decision.

You then made some really ****poor decisions when it came to prematurely giving another bad hire some unbelievable contract extensions. You pick turds, and then fix it so that to get rid of the ****, it will cost the University millions of dollars! That stupidity is going to cost the U a lot of money - both long-term and short-term.

Just for that one, single, financial cost - you should lose your job. It's not like College Presidents are as rare as true NBA stars.

Then to compound the problem, these HC's are absolutely tanking our program.

But the icing is the lack of interest on your part to somehow try to get a home for Miami football - what could be a considerable revenue generating program.

Sorry, beitch, but that's how it is.
