Developing: Could Derrick Griffin end up an Aggie?
GigEm247 has learned that former five-star Army All-American wide receiver Derrick Griffin may be eligible to immediately transfer out of Texas Southern and is cleared by the NCAA to enroll and participate in athletics at the school of his choosing.
According to a source close to Griffin, he never signed a letter of intent at Texas Southern University and enrolled at the Houston college as a normal student, even filing for his own government financial aid.
Because he was never on scholarship or officially a part of the TSU football program his eligibility clock has not started and can transfer and play immediately without penalization. He would have all fours years available to him as well.
Griffin was listed on the TSU roster but that was strategic by the college to ward off schools from potentially recruiting him away when/if he became eligible.
Currently, the one-time Aggie pledge holds a GPA over the 2.0 minimum required by the NCAA clearing house. Over the past year at TSU Griffin completed 27 hours of school work and made the grades necessary to become eligible as a potential NCAA student-athlete
Griffin just found out this news so he's not been in contact with any college coaches. However, there are schools that have
been made aware of this developing situation including; Miami, TCU and Texas A&M.
We're still in the infant stages of this potential monster news but we've also learned that Kevin Sumlin and his staff are interested in potentially adding Griffin to the roster in the fall and will inquire more about his situation after the holiday weekend.
We can also share that Griffin's first choice would be Texas A&M.

Man, that made me stop. Totally forgot about the phantom, so I went looking. Derosier was (maybe is) at Temple. Now there is irony for you.
