2026 Derrek Cooper 5* RB/ATH from Chaminade Commits to Texas

#BlameDmoney

Let's not forget a few days ago when Texas was ranked just ONE spot below us and Dmoney said they're not recruiting good and their class sucked...... They are now #5

you are one sided. you act like any 4 or 5 star we get dont count. Cantwell was the #1 recruit in the country. we flipped wynn and spafford both who uga wants badly. before he got here we lost everyone of these battles.
Differences makers vs elites have to be on the fronts. We are getting more than previous staffs but when you compare them to teams that become top tier they don’t plateau on the trail like this. They either hit the ground running in recruiting or don’t. And everyone knows here I am not one sided. I am neither mope nor slurped I speak on logic and facts……and look at top tier programs and how they started. I go baby how they did it and compare ourselves to that

Is it that hard for people to just answer questions or have a discussion without throwing in bull**** to fit a narrative? The big east was never considered a P5 conference. Ever.

Ninja, what???

Since when wasn’t the Big East considered a power with:
Rutgers, Syracuse, Pitt, WV, & Louisville in it?

Just b/c Miami, VT, & eventually BC left doesn’t mean the Big East wasn’t a power, functioning conference. So here’s my ? to u: y is it hard for ppl to just get out of their feelings thinking someone always has an ulterior motive, making accusations against ppl who r actually sports junkies that provide complete details? Can u answer that?

The Big East was the 2nd modern Power Conference to be poached from. U saying the Big East was never a power would be similar to saying the SWC was never a power. The Power conferences since 1996 were:
ACC
Big East
Big 10
Big 12
PAC-10
SEC

Then it became
ACC
Big East
Big 10
Big 12
PAC-12
SEC

Then it became
ACC
Big 10
Big 12
PAC-12
SEC

Now it’s
ACC
B1G
Big 12
SEC

From Wikipedia:

For decades, the most prominent conferences sent their teams to postseason bowl games, but the season frequently ended with multiple teams claiming the national championship. After the 1990and 1991 seasons ended with consecutive split championships, several of the most prominent conferences and bowl games formed the Bowl Coalition (1992–1994) and later the Bowl Alliance(1995–1997) to provide a definitive national champion. In 1998, the six largest conferences—the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Big East, SEC, and Pac-12—and the four most prominent bowl games—the Fiesta, Orange, Rose, and Sugar Bowls—formed the Bowl Championship Series (BCS), with conference champions awarded Automatic Qualifying (AQ) status to the bowl games and, provisionally, the National Championship Game.

Once the ACC & B1G ravaged through the remaining powers of the Big East it disbanded to later rebrand as the AAC, & it’s an official G5 conference.

So let me get this straight....We got grown men who claim to be lifelong Cane fans who some live in South Florida don't understand the mentality of South Florida kids.

THE KID COMMITTED TO TEXAS AND NEVER STEPPED FOOT ON THEIR CAMPUS!!!!

He is the definition of NIL!!!

How do you call that a loss? We don't have any issues at RB!!

Can't Wait for ND Game!!!

not worried. this is me at hardrock 12 drinks deep after the canes go up 3 scores week one against ND while dj volume is still playing music while the play is going on.

…and then you woke up from your dream. If we beat that ND team, it’ll be a small miracle. With a lot of other HC I’d say that we have a pretty good chance to win that game, but Mario almost always finds a way to have his team unprepared for big time games. Cam saved his butt multiple times last season. He doesn’t have that luxury this season.

It’s a different era .. kids today are polar opposites of the heydays of the 80s early 90s and last run early 2000s it’s a me me me world now
not really. we were just the NFL factory that was winning in those days.

if anything, kids are better team players now than they were then, and understand that it takes a team and winning culture to win.

hes trying to give a dude 15 years to win meanwhile the same luxury wasnt afforded to anyone else.

keeping it consistent, Mario has done what all our other failed coaches have done previously. 2 **** years, 1 good season, and year 4 was where it fell apart. lets see what happens this year bc he needs to win 10+ or hes the same as the rest except he failed with unlimited resources for miami at least

Whats the point in having Mario as head coach if he cant win these big recruiting battles consistently going into year 4? Recruiting elite players was supposed to be his superpower. If Mario was a good in game coach we could get away with misses like this but thats not the case smh
Good grief.

The kid didn’t want to come to Miami. Move I

Please put your bong & phone down and go to bed. You know there’s a saying in life…best to shut up then to run your mouth and remove all doubt.

This dude took 9 visits to the U. Yeah he didn’t want to be here. I don’t know if he was looking for a reason to leave, but that NIL PACKAGE was enough to get it done. Hopefully people in his camp aren’t telling him he can always come home if he doesn’t like it. THAT 💩needs to be DEADED.
This is all facts….. but u know, just as well as I do what will happen if……..

AGAIN, 125 pages, almost 2500 comments and nearly 300K views all for a recruit that went somewhere else. Never stop CISing.

So, Texas, who historically has not done a great job recruiting Florida, comes in to Florida and takes 3 top 10 kids from not just the in state, but all from S.Florida.

All while supposedly we have a top 5 NIL budget.

Why did we hire Mario again?
Crazy how having both a strong NIL budget and the on-the field results will have a strong impact on recruiting. These kids watched Texas have to back to back semifinal appearances. Pair that with a strong NIl budget

Yes, we don’t have the same budget as a large public school in the state of Texas, but we still have a pretty damm good one. Look at what we paid for Beck/Ward. The DBs. Jackson Cantwell. Look at what we paid to retain Bain, fletchers and other’s…

Trust me I love the inside info. After all these years you learn there are a few guys who are right way more then they are wrong. But in the end the idea of "how did they mess this up/how did they misread" is another go to on message boards. You know the staff doesnt get a "feeling" a kid commits then just stop recruiting him. I'm willing to bet Mario and other Off coaches were on this kid up until the commitment. Mario wasnt walking around telling some analyst or secretary "we got him spread the word on message boards." Probably quite the opposite. With agents, handlers, parents, etc all coaches on all teams are aware of what is going on and they also are smart enough to know "im committing" doesnt mean anything with some kids.
I know we wont stop recruiting some of these kids, but like I said boy I hope we keep progressing up the chain and can get to a point where we can say "you know what, f you and when it doesnt work out or you dont like it somewhere get in line because we arent taking you just because you grew up down the street." So really unless your source is Mario I'd take all info with a grain of salt.

Miami isnt some huge state school with 10's of thousands of alums who bleed orange and green all within two hours of campus. Its 2025, "the state of Miami" needs to be thrown away and we need to embrace the idea that we are more like Notre Dame(gross I know) in the sense that we have a national pull assuming we keep getting better. I live just outside Savannah now and I have probably seen 10-15 cars with UM alum plates in the few years I have been here. I have seen next to no other schools outside of GA/GA Southern then the smaller states schools and a sprinkling of Clemson/SC and a few UF's but not many. When I lived outside Philly I used to go to an LA fitness that had 8-10 people always decked out in Miami stuff. PSU/Pitt, smaller state schools and Miami

Also I love data, info, etc. But what happened 5, 10, 15 years ago, etc is completely irrelevant to today. The college game has been reshaped immensely the past 3-4 years with NIL, The P2 push, etc and will continue to change the next few years as coaches/players/programs learn to adjust. Lets hope Mario and Miami continue to adjust and try to stay near the front. Mario is changing the narrative of QB Killer/Bro ball, Miami fans need to let go of recreating the glory years.

And I want some green and orange Nike's. /rant

Im not holding Mario accountable for 2 decades of sucking. We are so much better overall as a program now than when he took over. It's not even close. Bigger, Faster, Stronger, tougher, more talented, more depth, actually ran like a top 10ish type football program.
This is a genuine question that I hope you and others that say this will answer:

When do we start holding Mario accountable?
