2026 Derrek Cooper 5* RB/ATH from Chaminade Commits to Texas

They've come into the state of Florida and taken who they want from the skill position since Sark got there so i can see why some would compare.
I guess that’s kinda what I meant. We can’t really compare ourselves to them on a recruiting front because we aren’t on their level

At least at the moment and certainly not moping about our recruiting

I've heard many folks pretty solid on Cooper to Miami but I've heard other "insiders" claim that Cooper is gone, most likely to Texas. His family is supposedly looking for reasons to bail on miami.

Only in sofla.

Which “insiders” specifically are claiming he is gone? I feel like that’d be news to the board, unless you’re just pushing pessimistic conjecture. Which wouldn’t surprise me.

Nah, not pessimistic conjecture. There are a couple folks on the boards that have said this. Just relaying, that’s all. I tend to believe the folks that are bullish on Miami.

I don’t think much of Texas. Sark is a mid coach and they haven’t done anything much in most kids lifetimes either

But they’ve proven they’ll get their recruits (recently) unlike us. So not sure why we even bring them up comparing to us
Mid coach? He brought them to the college football playoffs twice the last 2 years and finished in the final 4 both times. Texas was really struggling before he got there.

We need to beat ND. Then we need to beat Florida. Then we need to beat FSU. Then we need to win the ACC. Then we need to look good in the playoffs. No pooping the bed, no terrible coaching. We need Heatherman to be legit. We need to look like we belong. Recruiting will be a lot easier

Pay Cooper whatever he wants. Double it, if necessary. Sign this kid, period

At Texas:

2021: 5-7
2022: 8-5
2023: 12-2
2024: 13-3
(38-17. .691 W%)

Texas prior to Sarkisian:

2020: 7-3
2019: 8-5
2018: 10-4
2017: 7-6
(32-18. .640 W%)

Sarkisian was not very good at Washington and was drunk at USC. His numbers weren't good. He was known as Seven Win Steve at Washington. He was 34-29 over five years there. He was 12-6 in 1 and half years at USCw. He's 38-17 at Texas. I have to admit, the Final 4 comment made me chuckle. While last year that MAY have been an accomplishment given the 12 team format, the year prior only four teams made the tourney.

You don't have to agree with the label "mid," but the data sort of points that way. His last two seasons have been excellent. The rest of his career is sort of like a wet fart.

Is 84-76 mid or a wet fart?

I’m not sure y this board brings out the CFB fan in me, but comments like this must be addressed.

I’m noticing a common theme w LBJ fans & my own fan base: Either lack of context or attributing excuses to one & not the other.

Do u know y I often omit Mario’s time at FIU? B/c I realize, objectively, it was a **** poor program. Now, I’ve seen many debates prior to Mario’s hire that included his time at FIU where u had ones who included his time there & why he was nicknamed “Warrio”, vs. those who absolutely defended his time there citing problems w/in the structure.

My ? is y r these same criteria not applied to others? Y does this fan base always want “context” w Mario to excuse ineptitude, but hold other coaches to these ridiculous standards? Furthermore, y does this fanbase **** on coaches that have absolutely accomplished more than Mario?

So let me provide u context for Sark, especially since I shook this man’s hand while he recruited one of my lil’ partners at USC:

U talk about his time at UW, correct? So y didn’t u mention that he inherited a UW team that went 0-12 the yr prior?

Y didn’t u mention that UW under Tyrone Willingham went 11-37 in 4 yrs?

Y didn’t u mention that prior to Willingham, UW was 6-16 under his predecessor?

So Sark came into a program that went 17-53 in 6 yrs & U criticize him for elevating them to a 34-29 record in 5 yrs; YET, this same fan base gave Mario the benefit of the doubt going 5-7 yr 1 after inheriting a 7-5 team, & a program that went 47-28 over its past 6 yrs prior to. Make that make sense!

Let’s talk about SC, a program I’m ultra familiar w. Sark went to a USC program that was in utter disarray. He goes 9-4 yr 1, and then he gets fired in the middle of the season after starting 3-2. Yes, he was dealing w some personal demons, but SC reacted way too quickly & abruptly which is y that school became the carousel for coaches. Those two losses came against the eventual PAC-12 & Rose Bowl champions, Stanford, & a Chris Petersen led UW team.

Now at UT; Tom Herman burned a lot of bridges, but there was still no excuse for that 2021 UT team to go 5-7 yr 1. Regardless, UT stayed the course & now UT is a premier football program once again.

So let’s recap:

At UW he inherited arguably the worst program in all of CFB over a 6 yr stretch

At USC he came into a dysfunctional program that gave up on him after 1.5 seasons (despite yr 1 being relatively successful)

UT stayed the course w him & now they’ve been perennial CFP participants.

That’s the complete context, & if u guys r going to hold other coaches to these almighty standards, then do the same here.
