U talk about his time at UW, correct? So y didnā€™t u mention that he inherited a UW team that went 0-12 the yr prior?

Y didnā€™t u mention that UW under Tyrone Willingham went 11-37 in 4 yrs?

Y didnā€™t u mention that prior to Willingham, UW was 6-16 under his predecessor?

So Sark came into a program that went 17-53 in 6 yrs & U criticize him for elevating them to a 34-29 record in 5 yrs; YET, this same fan base gave Mario the benefit of the doubt going 5-7 yr 1 after inheriting a 7-5 team, & a program that went 47-28 over its past 6 yrs prior to. Make that make sense!

Letā€™s talk about SC, a program Iā€™m ultra familiar w. Sark went to a USC program that was in utter disarray. He goes 9-4 yr 1, and then he gets fired in the middle of the season after starting 3-2. Yes, he was dealing w some personal demons, but SC reacted way too quickly & abruptly which is y that school became the carousel for coaches. Those two losses came against the eventual PAC-12 & Rose Bowl champions, Stanford, & a Chris Petersen led UW team.

Now at UT; Tom Herman burned a lot of bridges, but there was still no excuse for that 2021 UT team to go 5-7 yr 1. Regardless, UT stayed the course & now UT is a premier football program once again.

At UW he inherited arguably the worst program in all of CFB over a 6 yr stretch

At USC he came into a dysfunctional program that gave up on him after 1.5 seasons (despite yr 1 being relatively successful)

I understand the context but you canā€™t compare FIU to UW and USC thatā€™s like giving Mario at pass at Miami because itā€™s been a **** show for 20 years those programs except FIU still have the resources to competeā€¦to me given the context FIU is the only pass

Sarkisian was not very good at Washington and was drunk at USC. His numbers weren't good. He was known as Seven Win Steve at Washington. He was 34-29 over five years there. He was 12-6 in 1 and half years at USCw. He's 38-17 at Texas. I have to admit, the Final 4 comment made me chuckle. While last year that MAY have been an accomplishment given the 12 team format, the year prior only four teams made the tourney.

You don't have to agree with the label "mid," but the data sort of points that way. His last two seasons have been excellent. The rest of his career is sort of like a wet fart.

Your leaving out the fact that they made two college playoff appearances in back to back seasons, it's a big difference between the Tom Herman and Charlie Strong years. Texas was essentially a laughing stock after Mack Brown until Sark was hired. Now they have one of the best rosters in college football and there is a VERY strong chance they make their 3rd straight college football playoffs.

Bro, if Mario goes to the playoffs in two of the next three years and doesnā€™t win a national championship; those exact same fans are going to be asking for his head to roll.

I have no idea what miami fans regard as a good coach anymore.

Honest answer - I hadnā€™t thought about the UW teams prior and in a rush to make a point, I posted what I posted. I didnā€™t post to compare to Mario. You ask valid questions. I

would say Sarkā€™s career has been similar to Marioā€™s, but achieved a lot more the last two seasons. Mario won two PAC 12 titles and itā€™s been dissected ad nauseum on this board. Aside from that, Mario hasnā€™t done much in the W/L category which is ultimately where and how coaches are graded. Heā€™s the coach of my team and I want desperately him to succeed. It doesnā€™t mean heā€™s above the same standard. Iā€™m realistically optimistic, but Iā€™m not a slurper.

Seems like you personally like him and I can respect that. Iā€™ve never met him and wasnā€™t trying to imply heā€™s a bad person.

I think he inherited more than people want to admit, but to me, for better or worse, I donā€™t think Mario respected a single molecule of this programā€¦not the infrastructure not the support not the money not Manny. IDK itā€™s hard to explain but I think him being the Cane that he is, he was completely disgusted and embarrassed by what this program was and he flipped literally everything upside down.

JMO. Doesnā€™t really matter to me, itā€™s year 4, this is now fully your deal and you need to win. I actually donā€™t even have the care to analyze the past and compare records, etc. We canā€™t change it. The only thing that matters is tomorrow. But yes, this program wasnā€™t given to him as a flaming dumpster. But I do feel he viewed it that way and he bulldozed the entire thing. Football isnā€™t just talent on paper. Itā€™s how you coach, what you teach, how you lead, expectations, everything that happens on the 353 non-gamedays has a ton of impact on what happens on the 12 days you turn the lights on. But for me, I donā€™t really care he went 5-7 in year 1. Whatā€™s it matter? Letā€™s say he went 8-4ā€¦.are we in any different spot? Now this program is fully his, in every single aspect. Last year was fun, and somewhat successful considering our history, but disappointing at the end of the day, once again. Go break that trend and make the playoffs. You have the roster to do it, and itā€™s your culture, so if it doesnā€™t happen, it sure as **** ainā€™t Mannyā€™s or the administrations fault.
