2026 Derrek Cooper 5* RB/ATH from Chaminade Commits to Texas

dude should just come back, no one cares that he was wrong. Ultimately its Mario's fault period.

No one cares he was wrong?!?! You have tons of dudes here who know nothing, then a guy comes along and gets a ton right with information he feeds them and they love it because now they're in the know, then misses on a few and the same know nothing guys lose their ****. Don't know why, maybe their parents didn't love them growing up, maybe they loved them too much. But that weird *** group definitely cares.

His info supposedly wasn't from the staff. Rest of the post is spot on.
That seemed to be the case previously and the way I saw it as well until someone brought it to my attention to reread his posts in the thread that shall not be mentioned.

This time he appeared to be speaking from the program’s position. He was talking about our board and who we were identifying, what our resources were and how we were deploying them.

Now maybe it was his way of extrapolating his own knowledge through his own sources but when you reread those posts it certainly did appear to me like he was speaking as though he was getting info from Miami’s side as well as his own sources.

Yall keep making the mistake of saying @1murhurricane info was coming from the staff. He has consistently said that his info never was coming from the staff and was always more from the players+family or agents or something.
So you had him from that side AND all the other insiders from the staff/program side all agreeing about Cooper. Which it's probably because maybe the staff didn't misread ****, Texas just hopping in the recruitment and dropped a bag we wouldn't match, simple as that. The kid clearly was looking for any reason to leave, and we thought with us being his best offer and the local program that we'd win it. Turns out Texas was already mid air to grab the alley ooop and dunk it over our heads.

"Probably because maybe..."

Come on, Cway. You know better than that. You don’t just rise from the depths of where we were and in 4 short years negate 20 years of failures to be toe to toe with schools that have been building their programs the entire time.

The rebuild is going to take longer for us to atone for our sins as a program.

I honestly don’t know if it’s even doable for small programs in today’s CFB.
This is the reality that most fans just will not accept. We just started spending the money 4 years ago that these other top programs have been spending the entire 20 year period we were down. Most of them longer than that.

Only on CIS does what happened yesterday not affect today. Even though in their own personal lives they KNOW what they did in the past has had a direct impact on their current lives. But not with Miami football/ Mario, nope.

You can make the argument that we are still atoning for our past sins, sure, lets agree there. However, we must admit that we are atoning for our current sins. Going 12-12 the first two years with some pathetic losses helped preserve everything being held against us. Finally, last year we started shedding some of that, only for us to **** the bed again in November against inferior teams. This is 2025, its easier than ever to turn around a program with how active the Portal is, the excuses have to stop.

If and when we win 10 games again this year and hopefully dont fall apart in November, you will notice things change very quickly. These kids want to come to Miami, we just have to prove it. We have not done so yet in a long time and that includes under Mario. As we all know, this is a make or break year.

Not sure how you can blame Mario. He has been on this kid forever and selling the U 18 hours a day. In sales, sometimes you can do everything right and the customer still picks the other competitors product because they just feel better with the other product.

You are over focusing on the loss of Cooper, when its just a part of a bigger disappointment. Cooper just happened to be the most recent loss and local to boot. You land say two of the big fish that committed elsewhere over the past two months and Cooper is a complete afterthought. We were sold that we had a top 5 NIL program this go around and were going to be pushing for the top class. Instead we are holding on by a thread to a top 10 class and will be passed the second Oregon gets its 16th commit there.

NIL helps for sure, but lets put this in perspective. Take your orange and green glasses off. Without the on field and draft success other programs have, do you think we are a top 5 destination for any random player with offers from everywhere, offering competitive NIL? The fact we are in the top 10 is not bad until we can put a couple 10 win seasons back to back to back. If we win, we will see top 5 classes in the future. If we don't, we won't.

My orange and green glasses have been off for a long long time now. I agree with what your saying here but disagree the level the current staff should be held accountable. Our problem is that we were 12-12 the first two years and last year's collapse was against a butter soft schedule. Our disfunction on defense doesnt help either, and what we saw last year despite winning 10 was an utter abomination. These kids are young and have short memories. They dont need a ton to be convinced here, just dont lose to a meh GT team that was telegraphing run or pass based on which QB was in that play. Dont blow a 21 point lead against SYRACUSE when the playoff is on the line.

Our problem is that the current regime hasnt lived up to their end of the bargain. You know how we know that? Because if that wasnt the case you wouldnt hear DMoney say this year is make or break here, we have to make things happen. These kids are losing faith in THIS staff, not previous staffs. The time is now for THIS staff.

So the head coach is not to blame or be held accountable for any of this?

That is a big shift from the past head coaching tenures.

I keep hearing and reading this excuse. Watch when we send dudes into the first round and win. They still won’t come here pause

I’ll just say this…

In life, nothing is guaranteed. U can’t make matter of fact statements about others. I remember when LBJ made his infamous declaration of him taking his talents to Miami (btw, do we realize Kobe was the 1st to use this line when he declared for the NBA?);

Chris Broussard said all reports indicate LBJ is going to Chicago, & he had us Bulls fans excited for a couple of weeks. Then the meeting happened in Chicago, & he doubled down, UNTIL things changed. He had to then walk back his definitive comments as his “sources” changed narratives.

On CIS, never say “Cane Lock” or “Cane.” This staff has been misreading kids for a min, & I know this factually. Also, & more importantly, these kids r being controlled by a lot of outside entities in this NIL era, so take info w a grain of salt; ****, take commitments w a grain a salt until they enroll. EVEN THEN, take an enrollee w a grain of salt b/c of the transfer portal!! That’s how wild CFB is now.

With that said, there’s no need to try to embarrass or attack ppl who r genuinely trying to report info; but, at the same time if u’re reporting info, hedge it. It would behoove u not to make definitive statements creating false expectations. That’s the best advice I can give to the board & all those that contribute to “inside” info as someone who’s not only been an observant fan, but one who deals w recruits & parents more today than ever before.
also... take the good with the bad... you can't throw out definites, peacock around when you are right, then cry, make excuses and run away when you got bad info... has never landed well on a message board of fanatics and likely never will -- just take the L and move on to the next

all this to say

watch the finish and 🦯🔒
