Deon Bush is a 1st round talent

Bush isn't a 1st rounder but would be surprised if he doesn't start for a few years in the NFL.

Really good football player, looked worse bc the staff then he should have.

I was wondering about an NFL team moving him to CB as well.
 
He looks more like a 4th (at best) or 5th round guy to me.

He will play in the NFL, and he'll play for a while, but his game doesn't leap off the screen to me. He is not really a ball hawk...not a dominating physical presence.

You claimed that the 2002 UM secondary was better than the 2001 UM secondary.

He probably has 1st round physical measurables. will do very well at the combine, but he wont be drafted in the 1st.

I see 3rd-4th with a chance at a late 2nd

Then you never saw Bennie Blades or Darryl Williams or Ed Reed or Sean Taylor play. I think Deon can be a good pro and they ran a lot of Robber with him on Saturday and he did well with it. But until like the four I named he just doesn't make a lot of plays when the balls in the air. He does bring the wood.

You don't pick Ramsey with the #1 pick in the draft. Titans need a ton of talent and mainly OL to protect Mariota.
 
We did a good job stationing Bush tighter to the line of scrimmage against Washington State. That's absolutely the correct strategy against a Mike Leach offense but I was shocked we figured it out. Given one week and not a bowl gap I doubt it would have happened. I had little interest heading into that game partially because I assumed D'Onofrio wouldn't know how to attack that style of offense at all. It was actually the most pleasant surprise of his entire tenure as coordinator here.

It's still ridiculous that we lost that game. Leach per usual didn't adjust at all. He stubbornly stuck to his underneath and midrange stuff and we were right there waiting for it, led by Bush. That type of opponent and also the off track allowed Bush to look considerably better than he really is, although he definitely improved this season.

The trend in the NFL is the opposite direction. They want smallish guys who are cover hawks, not stiff types who have trouble changing direction. I have my doubts that Bush will fare well in the combine tests. The new priority is going to be Deone Buchanon clones, given the success he's had with the Cardinals as an attacking type who may not cover well enough to be great at safety but fits perfectly as a smallish cover specialist linebacker given all the talent around him.

Bush is generally listed as a free safety, not a strong safety, at the draft specialist sites I've looked at in the early going. Safeties are very rarely taken in the first round. There are also many guys coming out this year at both safety spots who have been rated higher than Bush for a long time, including Jeremy Cash of Duke, the Ohio State transfer. He's considered second round. The more elite names have already shown up in this thread.

Deon Bush is the best all around db in the draft, maybe besides Jalen Ramsey... Except he hits much harder than Ramsey and can play any position in the secondary... Teams aren't going to let him fall past the 2nd.
