Oh dear.
This is turning into a Highsmith situation.
Lol. We aren't there quite yet.

Here's what happened on the TD that most people probably thought was Delaney's fault.
Delaney is lined-up with inside leverage on the #1 . He's giving up the outside. He's likely told to do this because we saw all of our CB's do this a handful of times during the game.

The #1 and #2 WR's go vertical. Delaney lets his WR got outside of him and down the sideline.

The LB carries the #2 WR vertical. Redwine rolls over and covers the #2 WR as well. Carter was likely supposed to roll over the top of Delaney and cover that vertical route from #1 but instead he stayed over the top of #2 . (which is why we have 3 guys covering #2 and nobody covering #1 )

That TD is on Carter.
I'm not ready to rag on Delaney just yet, not until we figure out WTF we're doing on defense.
Nevermind, he's terrible.
Re-watching the game now and he's being beat like a drum.

What gave you that impression? The numerous targets or the numerous catches?

The numerous times I saw him get completely shook on a route. He was gettin' his a$$ broke off.
Would you have expected Richt to say Delaney sucks instead?
What were your expectations when he got the inevitable, if not obvious, question about him playing poorly?
If he says he is trash then you and other posters will accuse him of throwing his players under the bus.
He should have been bland, generic, innocuous, boring, and evasive.
'We all need to play better' type stuff. Now DD can rest on his laurels.

The first question to Mark Richt on Sunday’s day-after-Toledo teleconference was about redshirt senior cornerback Dee Delaney‘s “tough” transition from FCS The Citadel to UM.
“He’s still learning the ins and outs of what we do,” Richt said. “We feel he’s in a good place. He has not played perfect, but everybody at all positions has struggled. He’s at a position that’s more visible than most, and I guess there’s more interest in him because he’s a transfer.
“We think he’s doing a good job. We believe in him and we’re going to continue to play him.”

Oh yea, there were plays where he got spinned so bad he looked like he just came out of the dryer.

CMR knows DD confidence is hanging by a thread right now. Can't have the ole head ball coach pile on. Like it or not we will have to play with Dee throughout the year. Lets just hope he gets into game shape and starts to figure it out.
