Decline in SEC talent

The SEC schools, for the most part, are not in ideal situations to take advantage of NIL.
The BIG 10 schools like Michigan, Illinois, USC, have not only a large alumni base, but they have a very wealthy alumni base. Not people who own car dealerships and local businesses, but people who are CEO’s of multi-national companies.

The same is true of Miami. The Mas brothers and the Soffer family were never going to give out cash in McDonalds bags. But they can financially support athletics above the table for as long as they care to without even feeling the financial difference.

The SEC is not going away, but expect that league to become a loud voice for NIL regulation/reform/limitations.

What I have many others smarter than me on this site have said about the SEC(mainly Alabama UGA, and Clemson) is once NIL and transfer portal was birthed, the playing field across CFB was leveled. Simple as that. I am sure they will find a way to regain their hold on CFB with some type of ridiculous regulations and such.

One could do this for every conference, yet, it’s more fun to do it for the SEC; it is incredible how many of their top prospects started off elsewhere.

Just going up the top 50 list: Branch, Burks, Young, Cisse, Banks, Conception, Howell, McCoy, and Delane.

3 B1G & 4 ACC & Howell from Bowling Green & McCoy from Oregon State. 9 in total, both of their top twenty guys; half of the 18 they have in the top 50. Even Chris Brazzell who dropped out of the top 50 is a Tulane transfer

I would guess the SEC paying for new stadiums, IPF's, and stand alone football facilities have taken their toll on boosters over the last 2 decades. Besides the annual $1.5 million under the table HS classes and more for some annual players salaries for the Bama's, UGA 's and LSU's. Now it's $40+ million payrolls. Miami might be top 8 and we have to be pushing $40 mill. Definitely top 10. To stack Bama or UGA the way they were 5-7 years ago would cost $60+ today. Their have to be several teams pushing $50 mill right now. LSU would be one of those. I hope Lane fails.

I legit don’t understand how ANY program is doing this YOY who isn’t funded by oil.

It's hard to make judgements off of one year. I think NIL has definitely evened the playing field for the time being. I still think unless it changes, the talent will flow back to the SEC (and BIG) as they have more financial resources in place.
