DE possible addition?

Last season, Marquise Lightfoot only logged 292 defensive snaps. Armondo played 401 defensive snaps, with only 111 of those being on the edge ( injuries between Blay and Moten). Scroggins only had 76

But this is complicated by the fact that Bain and Mesidor never wanted to leave the field.

This year will be more of a rotation of 4 DEs.

Some of you guys don’t seem to get the point about “starting”. It’s got nothing to do with whether or not Miami could use him. They would take him in a second. It’s the idea of a player coming back to college to play a part time role. I assume he would prefer to play somewhere he will be featured and get a lion’s share of the snaps. Rather than go somewhere to get 15 snaps a game in obvious run situations only.

If he’s totally cool with going through a ground breaking lawsuit to come back to college to be a reserve. Good for us. I just don’t see why someone would.

Pyburn would definitely be a welcome addition, he’d definitely get plenty of PT as we will 100% rotate a lot. I just don’t think we make that much sense for him tho, he’s getting burn on the Bucs atleast in preseason and LSU would be the obvious candidate for a return.

I’m all in on the Ole Miss TE, we desperately need one and he’s **** good, plus Ole Miss is deep there. ***** the NCAA, live or adapt. Put our energy there.

There is a reason he's looking to return to college......

If our offense starts to put up a lot of quick points like we did in 2024, it will put the defense back out on the field where we will need more fresh bodies. Towards the end of the year the injuries and banged up players start to add up, the difference from winning or losing the close games in the playoffs.

He’s likely DE4 on our roster. Seems like he’d want to go back to somewhere he’d be more likely to start
I think you guys are drinking way too much kool aid in regards to our DE’s overall game.

Pyburn wouldn’t be brought in as a pass rush specialist. Most of our DE’s are twitchy, explosive pass rushers. Pyburn is better than DE4 as an all-encompassing, defensive end (run game in particular). He was phenomenal in the run game last year, which would keep our other ends fresh for pass-rush situations.

There’s a reason Jason Taylor wants him and we’ve already been in contact. And so has just about every top 10 school + others with bags.

Who said they have been in contact?

That's my assumption also. I imagine he's looking for a program with a hole at DE - where he'll likely start and get a ton of playing time.

We saw the clip where Pyburn was raving about Bain. The good news is, that doesn't matter here. What *does* matter is that we can specifically ask Bain what *he* thinks of Pyburn and act accordingly. They've been in the same locker room, practicing in the same camps, same competition, etc...just ask Bain. We know Bain is that dude...ask him if he think he's got what it takes to uphold the standard Bain/Mesidor set.

That, along with the evals from Mario/Taylor...I don't think we can get this wrong. They've all earned enough trust (from me at least) given the DL play over the past few seasons.

Excuse my absolute ignorance because I cannot keep up. But any chance these guys play and are later ruled ineligible? Again I have no idea. Just wondering

Maybe. But my guess is that if they were to leave nfl and go to college again and then there was a new ruling down the road reversing the decision, there would probably be an exception granted for the players that left. Courts generally don’t like it when a person gets screwed by following a lawful order.

All this and if the guy plays like he did last game chances are the Bucs are going to keep him….I’d wait to see how that plays out before everyone starts jizzing on themselves at the chance he will come here to play…

He’s got four years of college tape showing us that his one preseason football game was likely a fluke
