DE possible addition?

He’s got four years of college tape showing us that his one preseason football game was likely a fluke

Maybe it was or maybe he’s a late bloomer I’m just saying before he gets penciled in to the starting lineup we ought to wait to see if he’s even GAUGHN ( promise this is the last one) be available…

Do I think he could help us? Of course, absolutely.

Do I think this staff, given how they are wired and strong on culture and earning your keep, will just let this kid walk in to an unfamiliar place and defensive system 2 weeks from kick and start over 1.) a guy who is likely our highest paid player on Defense and top 3 on team in Wilson and 2.) a guy in Blount who enters Y2 in the system, has put in the time/work and appears to be a superb kid off the field and has earned his opportunity to start? No, they won’t do that. I won’t even mention Lightfoot since they’d play 2 different roles.
And that’s if he were to show up TODAY. The kid hasn’t even been cut, and who knows when he will.

I just don’t think it’s a match/fit for us ultimately because you’re right - he is going to want to start, but he aint starting here 🤷🏾‍♂️. Him getting a couple sacks in Preseason game 1 vs a bunch of UDFA’s and guys who will be selling insurance in 18 months doesn’t really move me.

No, they wont let him do this but I dont think they feel they need him to start the season. If we need a rotational DE to beat Stanford, FAMU, Wake and Central Michigan then we should not be having NC hype. This is the type of pickup that shows up in the playoffs for depth when injuries happen. Hard to say what his mindset is. Maybe he wants to start, maybe he just wants to build a highlight reel? Maybe we offer the biggest bag and he decides its worth it to not start every snap but I dont think anyone is assuming he shows up today and STARTS in two weeks. I wouldnt expect to see him until game 3 or 4. Just to learn the system. Not like he is outta shape and needs a training camp.

Is this something where the conferences can band together to say FU?

Similar to the Sorsby situation, have to imagine ACC, SEC, B1G etc all have some kind of bylaw that says if you sign an NFL contract cant play in our conference, then they do exactly what these players are doing, forum shop, to get a good judge, file a dec action and get a TRO allowing you to "enforce" your own rules prohibiting NFL players from playing in your conference and then these players could either go JUCO, DII or low level ball and doubtful they would do that.

That's exactly what the rule enforces...starting with the class of 2022 going foward you have 5 years max. This dude and all others were in the 2022 class. Class of 2021 and previous classes are exempt and can not exercise this right.

If our offense starts to put up a lot of quick points like we did in 2024, it will put the defense back out on the field where we will need more fresh bodies. Towards the end of the year the injuries and banged up players start to add up, the difference from winning or losing the close games in the playoffs.

Exactly.

At the end of the 2025 regular season, Markel Bell was coming back for 2026.

By the end of the CFP, he was a 3rd rounder.

It's painfully obvious that some posters have gone from "the court system is ruining college football" to "Pyburn won't come to UM to play 15 snaps per game as a situational third stringer".

Anyone who thinks that Pyburn is not a starter and/or wouldn't put up stats in Miami's system and with Miami's talent is just nuts.

@Cribby already told y'all that Mario has reached out. Listen to that man and let Mario do what Mario does.

I may be in a minority, but I’m so against this that a player taking preseason NFL snaps is crazy and then tryingto come back to college

Enough is enough I really wished the rules would enforce five years and done.
This would be his 5th year…

Why not both?
I'm not against adding him. His value here has been massively overstated, but Wright moves the needle Pyburn does not. Personally I'd rather that 4th/5th DE spot go to a developmental player that can be a contributor by the postseason.

How long until TTU/Cody Campbell calls up Diego Pavia and tells him to file a lawsuit to grant an injunction? He still only played 4yrs in 4 of FBS football… just sayin
