2023 DE DeeJay Holmes

Interesting info in the article, those strength numbers are concerning.
"Holmes is 6-foot-3, 240 pounds with room to grow as just a junior. He lready benches 275, squats 365, and runs the 40-meter dash in 4.5 seconds"

Yes you can't coach speed, but he also needs to be able to hold up against the power run game when setting the edge even on the weak side when counter run plays come his way.

6’3 230lbs 3-star EDGE/DE out of The Muck, goes to 5A school Pahokee

Had an outstanding Junior year with 92tcks 25.5TFL’s 19.5 sacks 3FF’s & 3FR’s winning the Palm Beach Defensive Player of the year

Is an explosive Rhino rusher with an insanely quick burst first step off the snap. He attacks the line of scrimmage as though he’s shot out of a cannon & is a relentless pursuer of the QB. Super High-motor Rush-End who does a really good job with engage press stack & shed upon the point of impact & just absolutely hunts down the QB with unmeasured violence & aggression. @:50 has very quick hand swim move which stifles Lineman & combined with his incredibly quick footwork makes for a very difficult Block for OL’s because if you don’t beat him to the punch you’re finished. @1:30... Wow! Is all I have to say about that hands attack lol

He’s an insanely quick-twitch athlete with violent hands & disruptive explosive Edge rusher that projects as a high upside Weak side rusher or could definitely play as an OLB Jack rusher in a 3-4 system. Has legit 4.5 speed at DE & has great physical frame to get up to the 255 range & be an absolute pass rushing Demon in the right system.

Needs to work on playing with more balance & hip bend, but that can be coached up.

One of the most underrated prospects in the 23 class IMO with a really high upside. He’s being recruited by arguably one of the best DLine coaches in college in Charlie Partridge at Pitt who has developed Calijah Kancey into top 1-3 round draft pick after this season.

This kid reminds me Josiah Stewart from Coastal Carolina, mid-tier 3-star that wound up being 5th in the Nation in sacks...
As a True Freshman;
They’re pretty much rated the same coming out of High school too.

Obviously, we’re not recruiting him because we have higher ranked targets, but this is a kid that I definitely think will have a productive college career & under the right tutelage will be developed into a force multiplier weapon on the DLine even as just as pass rushing specialist.

He’s already OV’d to Pitt, looks like Partridge will get another steal...

Offers:
Pitt, Penn ST, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Wake Forest, Louisville, West VA, Purdue, Indiana, GTech, Boston College, Syracuse, UCF, USF, Coastal Carolina, Marshall, FAU & Western Kentucky

This is what the summer camps are for. Hopefully this kid finds a way to get in front of our coaches and put on a show.

This is GREAT!

We're pointing out to other teams "hidden gems" in our backyard!

Maybe someone should just go to the coaching staff . . .

I watched his tape about 3 weeks ago and thought really underrated as well. I also like the slot WR Demps, from Glades Central's tape

Side note: Pahokee is now 5A???

This kid really shouldn't need to go to a camp to be offered. Hes a dam heat seeking missile from a school thats ben very solid to us over the years. Has a lot of Demarcus Ware type traits.

the 275 bench is pretty weak for someone who is 240 but the 4.5 40-meter dash is very impressive that makes him a sub 4.5 40 -yard guy.

That kid has a non-stop motor and as El said, is relentless. Quite the burst off the line and another thing I loved is how he would get off blocks when he wasn't asked to get up the field. Staying put in contain on the edge, shedding the block, and getting to the ball carrier or QB. Good looking prospect for sure.
