De-commits and Attrition and their impact

Dismissed and grad transfers I am not super concerned about. Character counts, but CMR gives an opportunity, educates kids, and holds them accountable. It is what it is. I am however, a little concerned about kids transferring after year 1. Something to keep an eye on.

Looking at Warriors list, wow, Richt has really cleaned house.

First of all, he had zero control or iimpact on what happened to Young/AQM/Grace, so I wouldn't even count them in this list.

Second, Njoku and Burns were 1st Rounders, and I think we should want more of these expected 3 and out kids on the team. We're in for several more in the coming years with guys like McIntosh, Norton, the Bermuda Triangle II kids, Donaldson..

Third, of the 27 remaining from that list:
-- 14 most would agree we saw/could expect little to no impact from Brady, Brown, Tucker, Washington, Grimsley, King, Loftus, James, Hamilton, Jones, Moore, O'Donnell, Knighton and Bruce.
-- 6 were arguably either decent depth guys or capable of becoming so in: Gayot, Wright, Allison, Edwards, Odogwu and Yearby.
-- 3 were starter, high rotational guys or potential rotational guys in Haskins, Jenkins and Kaaya.

So only 3 of 27 were high impact guys, on a team that still has several JAGs and unfilled scholarships, four if you want to be generous and count Odogwu. And Haskins was potential only ... who knows if he would have really hit the potential we saw in him. Richt put up with a lot of BS to keep him, apparently. That's not just a house cleaning, he flushed the toilet and replaced the septic tank.

I don't see nothing wrong here. This will pay off in spades within the next couple of years...

This is definitely a problem and I think Manny and staff are going to have to figure out something with these really early commits. I was poking around the Texas 247 board to see what was being said about Garcia (if anything) and there is a thread about Miami and our decommits.

Here are some posts:

Poster #1: I was just reading a different article and saw something about a Miami commit opening things back up, and it made me think... man, Miami sure seems start off hot and then have a ton of decommitments every year.
So, I was curious and just took a quick look by year, here are the numbers:
2016: 25
2017: 14
2018: 5
2019: 17
2020: 16
That is 77 decommitments over the course of only the last 5 classes. That's more than 15 decommitments per class, and that doesn't even count guys who dropped more than once... AND it's occurred over two different coaching staffs.
Are they doing something different than everybody else? That is just crazy to me, why would you accept these commitments when they're obviously BS from the start? Doesn't help perception, that's for sure.
Poster #2: My personal opinion, is that most of these guys are Miami kids and they dream of going to Miami, then they realize Miami really isn’t that good, and other teams from the south start pushing. But it’s pretty hilarious, in 2016 they had enough decommits to fill a whole class

Poster #3: I gotta think it's a combo of that, kids that "decommit" because they aren't going to qualify, and coaching turnover. But I'd think that would be turning at this point with Diaz going into his first full class... apparently not. He's at 16 decommits already, I don't get it.
****, they already have TWO 5-star decommits... in 2021!

Three random people on the TEXAS board talking about this. You KNOW it's being used against us with kids all the time. I think it's something that has to be addressed.

Unfortunately I couldn't answer any of them - their board is locked to non subscribers

I know that and you know that but the optics are MIAMI were dropped. Now add two of our highest commits in two classes. It's a very bad optic right now. I think the kids all know what's up - what's to keep some more of them from thinking "maybe I should see what I can get too??"
