so hes replaces kobe. W. who is replacing scott? or he replaces scott and poyser moves to SS so fitz can start at FS?

Is he a nickel or safety?
Bryce should be our post S.
Poyser has the ability to do both and I think he might be out most underrated player coming back.
This kid looks like a nickel all day.
The great thing with Bryce and Poyse is that they can play all 3 at an elite level IMO.

Both but I like him at nickel. Very smart player and nickels need to have smarts

Agree I just don't see him with the athleticism for split field coverages. Little bigger that Scott who's was the best nickel I've seen in CFB since Brian Branch.

Also, I love Jakobi but he blew a few coverages this year on the back end. I don't think Poyser or Fitz will let that happen.

I think the staff will try him at both during the spring. This guy and Hussey have the ability to play both, should make for some interesting battles during spring.

First of all I'd say I'd want Fitzgerald in the deep safety role. Cover 1/Cover 3 with him all day. Even with the fact that Fitz was the main guy who replaced Scott.... I still think the true nickel competition is between Poyser and Thornton. And I'd learn towards Poyser there.

But more than anything I just hope we get our 5-8 best DBs on the field as much as possible. Id assume there will be a decently heavy rotation with who is dropping down to nickel. Heatherman can be EXTREMELY diverse with what he does given I don't think any of the expected Starting level guys are exclusively Nickel, but many can play that role.

The interesting thing is last yr we entirely relied on Bain and Scott to be the guys that offset the Offenses Numbers advantage cause they were so elite against the run and getting off blockers. We don't have anyone like either of those two this yr imo. So just off rip Heatherman can't do things the exact same unless he's just asking more out of our LBs...

I have no problem with it being a completely open competition at nickel all spring and summer. Our top 5 outside CBs all return. What if one of them wants to throw their hat in the ring? Xavier Lucas played nickel a bit more than people realize. Damari obviously was supposed to start at nickel last season. Imo one of the freshman can absolutely go all in at trying to earn the nickel job and get rotation there immediately like Dunnigan, Portis, **** I love Waters. But Heatherman does like using bigger guys that are more Safeties than pure corners there... But this yr id just expect Heatherman to rotate more. When we go with our pass rush package why can't a more cover corner come in to nickel...

Damari wasn’t supposed to start at nickel. Guidry thought that would be his best position but brown had no interest in playing it

Maybe and hopefully he changes his mind after seeing how featured Scott was in the roll.
