Did golden name heaps the starter? Because people on twitter are starting to b¡tch and moan about it
I'm not going to be upset if he names heaps for the first game. True freshman in a hostile environment with no experience usually doesn't work out so well.
Neither does starting Jake Heaps based on his past experience at two mediocre programs where he lost starting jobs.
The quarterback who performs the best this summer should be named the starter, experience be damned. Otherwise the outcome will seem like a predetermined deference to experience, which shouldn't be accepted at any program at any position.
I see what you're saying but, if the competition is close, you just can't discount experience as a non consequential factor when making a decision on a starter. It's one thing to perform well in practice, it's quite another to do so in prime time, in a hostile environment, in your 1st ever game action on the college level.
I think we all agree that Kaaya is special and that he is our future. However, Golden's job is to put his team in the best position to win the next game so I don't think it's unreasonable, IF the competition is close in camp, to factor in certain intangible qualities when trying to determine which QB will give you the best chance to win that 1st game...
