DAY 5 PRACTICE THREAD

Did golden name heaps the starter? Because people on twitter are starting to b¡tch and moan about it

I'm not going to be upset if he names heaps for the first game. True freshman in a hostile environment with no experience usually doesn't work out so well.

Neither does starting Jake Heaps based on his past experience at two mediocre programs where he lost starting jobs.

The quarterback who performs the best this summer should be named the starter, experience be damned. Otherwise the outcome will seem like a predetermined deference to experience, which shouldn't be accepted at any program at any position.

I see what you're saying but, if the competition is close, you just can't discount experience as a non consequential factor when making a decision on a starter. It's one thing to perform well in practice, it's quite another to do so in prime time, in a hostile environment, in your 1st ever game action on the college level.

I think we all agree that Kaaya is special and that he is our future. However, Golden's job is to put his team in the best position to win the next game so I don't think it's unreasonable, IF the competition is close in camp, to factor in certain intangible qualities when trying to determine which QB will give you the best chance to win that 1st game...

Well Yearby is not fast. I mean,
He's not slow either but he's more
The type to get 6, 8, 4, 13, 5 in a series.

im fine with that . He is an excellent short yardage back that doesnt have great but enough speed.

Yearby does not need elite speed.
The guy makes people miss with his shifty moves and seems to always get positive yardage.
Usually when guys dance in the backfield with all their jukes they lose yardage. He seems to do the opposite.

"@ByTimReynolds: Everyone is all about QBs right now and understandably so at Canes Camp. I watched D-Line today and was impressed. They're better."

It was Ray Lewis, but he was older and that was the factor more than anything. Your legs go first in football and you can carry less weight. When your younger, you can carry a little more. As for 10 lbs. lighter, he will be by the time the season starts, summer camp melts the pounds off quickly and he will have trouble maintaining his current weight.

DP is a beast, but I can't help but think he should be about 10 lbs lighter... Wasn't it Ray Lewis that said in his last couple of years he had to get smaller so he was quicker to play with these wide open offenses? Or was that Bart Scott? Thats all I think of when I see him in coverage, that if he was a bit lighter he would be much quicker in short bursts in coverage..... again, WTF do I know...

I might be late on this, but Brad Kaaya's mom played Felicia in the movie Friday. She was also in House Party 3..Not bad looking for a mom

OL is starting to become a concern of mine. Lets hope the right side and our center can get the job done

I would hope KC McDermott starts at RT even though a true frosh. I really don't trust Gadbois.

If kaaya is given equal chances and gets to compete as I'm seeing he will, he'll be day 1 starter heaps knows his role on this team he's always been the insurance plan the benefit of playing kaaya early only enhances are chances in getting the coming freshmen quarterbacks (Lawson and Allison ) it shows there is a legit opportunity here, and maybe he doesn't finish the year kaaya but he holds his grown til williams recovers, and bk wil be monster next year....that's how i see everything working out and I'll be there rooting for whoever I just want to see my team ball!

Matt Porter ‏@mattyports 1m
Kevin Olsen on how he thinks he's faring in QB race: "I can only control what I can control. I think I’m making the reps that I get count."

I get it now...He's soft as ****

And that's hard as **** to improve upon
