Davis vs Richt

Great points. He was a terrible game day coach! We would call timeouts on O, then run the play in late and get a delay penalty. My friend was a ballboy on those teams and I would ask him if the sidelines were as chaotic as they looked from the stands or TV and he said yes.

After Miami Butch didn't win at Cleveland or UNC, at least not big. His success at UNC came at a price. NCAA sanctions.

More importantly, and why I doubt he was even in the realistic convo for the job here was he got UNC in trouble with the NCAA and if anyone on this board thinks the BOT ( and the President of the University) were about to get out of the Nevin Shapiro scandal and hire ANYONE who was not squeaky clean, you're not dealing in reality. Nothing is worth having the NCAA on Miami's a--, nothing. The admin would prefer to go 9-3 and be respectable and functioning as a football program than go 12-0 under a Davis only to get back in the crosshairs of the NCAA.

The NCAA missed out on what they thought was a stone cold case vs UM with Shapiro; Why risk that with Butch, especially when he isn't at the coaching level of the elite?

I've met coach Davis and like him, he's super energetic( which Richt isn't), and full of passion. He understands the UM mystique better than Richt also. I just cant get on board with Davis as the hands down better pick as HC in 2016, especially with his baggage which Miami was NEVER eve going to be ok with.
Half the crap you said is BS.....Shannons sidelines were 100× worse than Butchs....

Lol at your friend was a Ballboy...So??...My Son was as well....smh...

Do you recall he inherited a four-win team- at a basketball school - and founded NC football - while whippin UM's *** four or so times?

Were all of you guys born like yesterday?

No one seems to look at who graduated from FIU last year - no one seems to recall the building job Butch did at NC - and even after losing a ****load of his players due to the school administrations multi-year bull**** - still won his bowl game.

And we lost 31 scholarships at UM in two years - all determined to kick in his first year at UM?

Butch is the exact same age as Saban.

You really believe Saban is burned out? Has past his expiration date?

When he took the HC job at UM, I don't think anyone else would take it - and of course UM was Butch's first HC job - and yes, like one or two first-time coaches - like Dabo - he had a bit of learning to do -

But he had to learn while losing over 30 scholarships - then when his players came into play in 2000 - he lost one game. His team won the following year with Clappy - you schittin' me? And technically, won in 2002 as well.

Some of you must be too young to learn that most people really don't change. You'll learn eventually. Physical capabilities may decrease - but your heart - your essence - that doesn't really change at all.
Goofy cornballs ALWAYS conveniently leave out the part where we could hardly practice and NCAA tried to put us in the dirt never to be resurrected

Richt is better off at a Christian school. Stick his *** in Baylor or TCU and let a real Savage put in work at Miami. Give me a guy who coaches to win every **** week. Give me Leach or Starship Dana. Those guys would feast at Miami.

Hey dude... TCU or Baylor wouldn't touch Richt regardless of his religion. ****, I doubt the 1AA Houston Baptist University Huskies would want his HC services at this point.

No one can ever answer this as we ask over and over. Name a Power 5 school that was interested in Butch as its coach after UNC. He has to be able to get a better job than FIU.

Butch got screwed when he got fired. UNC thought if they'd fire someone - the NCAA would take it easy on them - even though Butch had nothing to do with that stuff.

I imagine he was a bit ****ed, and wanted his money UNC owed him - as long as he wasn't coaching. I know I would.

Here's the part the really stupid folks don't understand -

Butch had money. Butch had worked for ESPN as a gig, but Butch Davis only wanted ONE job - Miami.

When the dumbasses that hired Richt passed on him - he took the gig - where? FIU. And where IS it?

He's currently runner up for MAC Coach of the Year. We'll see what happens.

They dont use facts bro
Repeat this fact to yourself BUTCH DAVIS assembled the greatest team in the HISTORY OF MANKIND!!!!!
Maybe he can't do it again but I highly doubt we would be looking at the **** show we see before us now

even if he wanted one job name one school that offered him a job

How do you know what jobs he was offered? How would you know what jobs he turned down with the initial contact?

A lot of that stuff is done quietly - confidentially - through contacts and those who are sent to contact a coach - as Universities normally don't want the negative publicity of being turned down publicly.

You got ESP? You have visions of all job offers in college football? You stare at a bowl of water like Nostradamus? How in **** do you know who offered who?

Don't forget - we were getting Gruden - and his brother. Every possible name was put out there, and none of it was correct - as the University never announced one, single offer. Not one. But suddenly Golden was hired. Same thing with Richt - BOOM! He was hired.

Some of us wouldn't move to Lincoln, Nebraska at gunpoint. Or Atlanta. Or Oregon. Or Pennsylvania, Arizona, Kentucky, Mississippi, or West By-God. Gun to our head.

Especially if we're getting fat checks to sit at home.

That's one of the most ridiculous arguments against Butch I can imagine.

I don't know schitt. But no one else does either.

I'll be honest, when the job opened up... I wanted Davis. Miami needs a Coach that matches the identity of the Program. Davis should be the coach. He **** sure wouldn't have taken losing to UVA, Duke, and BC on the ******* chin like choir boy.

Honestly Coach Richt is too soft for the University of Miami.

SPOT on..... Richt is ruining these players by getting in their head. No coach on our staff knows the standard of Miami . Richt is nothing more then a back up QB who prob never even practiced hard a day in his life... His stubborn *** needs to step down. These kids dont work hard enough ... WTF is jaquan johnson doing SMILING putting the chain on when we are loosing.... the team is so lost .. thanks to the staff and these players who are afraid to speak up... Its the dam TRUTH

FWIW, the last time Cleveland made the playoffs was when Butch was coach.

Davis was a better choice over Richt in 2016 if those were the 2 options.
