Anything wrong being aspirational?
My statement that @MainLineCane was agreeing with is that I explained to someone that:

“All lives SHOULD matter... but apparently black lives don’t with what we’ve seen happen repeatedly.”

“SHOULD” is aspirational. Black lives mattering is aspirational because we’re not there yet.

Should is aspirational. Black lives mattering is aspirational because we’re not there yet.

I don't think we are there yet either, in many ways, but what happened to the last 8 years?

Dave Chappelle & Patrice O'Neal are my two favorite comedians of all-time.

Chappelle IMHO is the GOAT. The bar is set with Dave.

Then for me....

Bill Burr
Joey Diaz
Tom Segura
Bert Kreischer
Chris D'Elia
Patrice O'Neal
Iliza Shlesinger
Steve Hofstetter

Amongst others.....truth be told I use comedy as a medium to disassociate myself from the 2020 apocalypse lol

I don’t follow, 8 years???

Last administration. We did have a first black family duly elected by a sizeable white majority working and residing in a house, ironically, built by the help of slave labor. Yet some folks keep wanting to live in the past.

So you can't figure out what dude meant by 8 years? But you have this whole black lives matter issue figured out? Usually I'd call BS... but I guess it could just be some of that non- malicious ignorance you mentioned.

Go Canes!!!!!

Lol @ trying to change Salt or any righty's way of thinking that still doesnt understand BLM after all thats happened. Those horse binders have been set for many years. Theyre not going to wake up one day and suddenly see the light. Only a personal experience that affects them will bring about change. If watching 8 minutes and 46 seconds of that wasnt personal enough then message board words isnt changing a **** thing in their minds.

Nice try. I don’t claim to follow the history or intricacies of the movement but I have sense enough to know that black lives aren’t being valued like white lives. Black people aren’t being treated with the same courtesies as white people.

That video was heart wrenching. Most all of us in agreement. Minneapolis Cop and those complicit are getting what they deserve.

Let's burn businesses (many minority owned) to the ground, let's kill cops (some black), defund and or abolish police, ransack and take over municipalities demanding free college among other non-sensical demands.

What am I missing?

Looters and Antifa are opportunists. All of this is deflecting from the crux of the issue, which is that the historic mistreatment of Black people continues.

Man, I'm realizing people don't get it bro. Like when one of my clients said, "well, don't all lives matter?" I just said, of course, but your life has been mattering since the beginning, my peoples' lives have not, hence the protest. Smh. When you live in a bubble, haven't been exposed to much, or your views are curtailed by what you're surrounded by, it's hard to understand. I get it, which is why as I get older and have expanded my association, it makes sense. Doesn't make it right, but I get it.
Experience has been the best teacher my entire life Rell. When I see something, hear something, feel something, smell something, taste something, it has a greater impact on my life personally and professionally.

I believe that's where a lot of the disconnect is between white people and black people - white people haven't "experienced" what black people have so it's difficult for whites to understand the trials and tribulations of blacks. That's not to say whites shouldn't try to understand but it goes back to my view of how experience is the best teacher. Not trying to make excuses, just trying to provide some perspective as to why I believe many whites don't understand the plight of blacks.

No matter ones skin color, I think we all have a tendency to stick close to our comfort zone although I do my best to not be an ostrich.

I don't disagree that historically there has been mistreatment. Point is where we are now? Great strides have been made since Jim Crow (last president????). Racism still and will continue to exist, for sure, but not to the extent it systemically did in the past.

But I agree there are extremist opportunists and predators around on BOTH sides. Some that want to keep fueling the racial divisions and keeping the crisis going to hold on to whatever power they think they have.

I wasn't trying to do anything. Why would you even say that? I was just making a point. Isn't that exactly what we're all doing here? Or are people only wanting to discuss matters that pertain to one particular narrative. The racial issue at hand will never begin to heal if people can't begin to have an honest and open dialogue while remaining civil towards each other. The way it's starting to look around this board is. It's an us vs them issue. With neither side really knowing who us or them really are. Divide and conquer. We fail. United we win.

Go Canes!!!!!!!!
