Maybe you haven't seen much of him outside of Chappelle show. So I'll catch you up. Dave is known for his political takes and his satyr towards politics. This is nothing new. Just simply people paying attention due to the topic.

And lol at it not helping his career; the man walked away from $50m on thee hottest and most watched comedy skit b/c he realized ppl weren’t laughing w him, but at his theatrics. Doubt he gives two fcks what anyone thinks, which is y he sells out shows regardless

I just watched a prior Netflix special on one of his shows and saw some of this one. This was not satire like his other stuff. It was honest, and hopefully therapeutic for him. But if he wants to keep his career going he needs to go back to comedy and satire. Not straight up commentary that is personal and maybe offers a glimpse into his own thoughts and feelings, but really doesn't add anything more than what is going on 24/7 on cable news/opinion shows.

I actually saw Dave live right when he first was making his comeback. He preformed at Alonzo mornings event at the Hark Rock Casino. He bombed so bad people were leaving. He talked about it once in one of his specials. Boy was that a bad night for him. But I just chopped it up to him getting back into the swing of doing stand up again. Would love to see him again. This is a great special.

I'm sure Dave Chappelle's career and the audiences wanting to hear him will both be fine.,

I'm also sure that he and his ever growing audiences will treat your "concern" appropriately by crumpling it up and placing it in the circular files next to all our desks

Loved he got the Mark Twain award, Chappelle is the best standup comedian of his era. Top five all time.

I'll preface this with, I don't know you or where you stand with anything else but judging by this comment, you are missing the point.

This is the same time is dismissive dribble put out there by the folks that look to put black and my brown people down. The same line as telling LeBron to keep dribbling when he speaks up or Kap to just play football.

Sh+t is messed up for us and has been for a long time and the people of privilege love to act like the people being abused "just aren't working hard enough" or want a hand out and if a celebrity speaks out, they should stay in their zone. So, should Clint Eastwood stick to making movies? Should that NASCAR driver who just quit, stick to driving? I don't see the same outrage when the other side speaks up? It's actually applauded for their bravery to protect your misplaced values.

I just dealt with the same question. From some people, it comes from hatred but from others I truly believe that it comes from non-malicious ignorance.

So when this person asked me in earnest “don’t all lives matter?”, I responded in a way which made sense to me as a white person for another white person to try to understand it and who then did understand it.

I said well all lives SHOULD matter... but apparently black lives don’t with what we’ve seen happen repeatedly.

First, I thank you for articulating a reasonably intelligent response vs. the majority of folk who just react with brainless emojis instead of engaging in discussion.

Like I mentioned, he is entitled to his opinion but not entitled to be immune from criticism or the negative consequences that may ensue. If he wants to take that route he certainly can but I do not expect it to be a profitable move for him. It's not what brought him to notoriety. His comedy did. And you can certainly make social commentary within a context of comedy. He did that very well like other comedians like Chris Rock and Eddie Murphy who I find funny as ****.

LeBron can have his social and political commentary too. But It's not what brought him to his popularity. His basketball talent did. He's rich enough to do and say whatever so he may not suffer financially. But I watch him to admire his amazing talent, not to hear his social commentary or political takes.

I think Clint Eastwood is a terrific actor and director. His movies are great. I don't look for Eastwood for political opinion. He's entitled to it but that is not what made him famous. If he were to do this full time, I would not watch even and I also doubt most of his fans would follow.

So if Chappelle wants to venture into making straight up social commentary instead of comedy, fine. Maybe CNN or MSNBC can give him his own show like the Reverend. I just think he will lose some of his fan base who would rather just listen to his comedy.

Just my opinion. Luckily, I don't do it for a living.

Since ALL LIVES (should)MATTER....there is nothing wrong with anyone saying that Black lives matter.
