Could we do better? I sure ******* hope so, but
1.) He would not have much leverage and probably wouldn’t have to break the bank for him. If he is asking for that, then fvck no.
2.) He is a veteran body that has played some good football, and played some not so good football. 2 sacks against this “eLiTe OL” last year, btw. The hope would be for his last year, maybe he turns it on a bit.
3.) Don’t promise him anything PT wise, he has some actual competition and wouldn’t be given anything so you would HOPE that lights some type of fire.
4.) This would hurt FSU and their already thin DL. They’d have to either start at true FR at NT, or go bargain bin shopping for an underwhelming one cause we know they don’t have the bread to poach one worth a ****.
5.) Beggars can’t be choosers, we have 3 DT’s that we are counting on and only 1 of them has truly done anything in CFB that can be relied upon and that was on the G5 level. We needed one before Horton’s departure, now we DEFINITELY need one. Jackson is going to be drafted, and would be our biggest guy the second he got here. Which one of our DT’s on this roster can you say is 10000% without a shadow of a doubt is better than Darrell Jackson? The answer is none of them. Put all the sensitive feelings **** aside. I’m trying to ******* win games. Again, I hope we can do better but unless you want Donta Simpson getting relevant snaps against ND in 4 months, then this would be a no brainer.

If He doesn't cost too much because he liked Miami already, he's probably the best bang for buck we'd be able to get. He's obviously talented. Don't think they even wanted to lose him in the first place. I really can't imagine much of a better 4th DT (with major caveat that I am also assuming what you are about NIL expectations) to add for what I'd expect him to cost. Do I expect him to get heavy production? No. But he also is the exact type of DT we need with his size imo.
