yep.....and this is sooo true because..... I believe........ at that time..... for a quick sec........

I was actually one of them who said that lol
😂 NIL and the transfer portal has taught me to not pass judgement until the dust settles, we have 0 idea how next years team (including QB) will look until August 2026

Why can't you rely on the portal every year? Grab the best guy out there looking to take a year to boost his draft stock and make 2-6 mm doing so??
Mercenaries QBs are like A-Rod. Might win one time with him when there's a ton of leadership around (Posada, Jeter, Rivera) but now many times was that guy paid a ton and won jack?

Mercenaries QBs are like A-Rod. Says who?

Weird assertion that has little to do with recruiting a portal qb.

I'm gonna repost a Shannon Dawson quote I read back when he was first hired. On looking for QBs, he said,

"You got to see something in the kid that kind of triggers you, and to me, it’s all about accuracy. You look at all these quarterbacks that are five-star kids, and they don’t all work out. Typically, the reason they don’t work out is because they’re not accurate. Like you can have a strong arm, and you can be athletic. You can have all these things, but if you can’t throw the football accurately from point A to point B, you’re going to struggle as a quarterback."

The fact of the matter is, if you can’t throw the football accurately, you can get all these quarterback gurus you want to help you, it just ain’t happening, brother. Your throwing motion has been ingrained into your body since you’ve been throwing rocks as a little kid, and you’re not changing that. You can change it in a drill, but once live action happens, you’re reverting back to what’s natural, and good luck."

How many of the last 7 natties were won by a mercenary? One.

Tua. Burrow (2y). Young. Bennett. Bennett. McCarthy. Howard.

This year could tip the trend w/ Beck towards 1-off QBs.

But so far its program guys and a 2y transfer other than the Howard play which was a program that added a handful of dudes. Not 20+ a QB.

I think it's the opposite. He's getting backlash because he's from Miami. Same thing happened with Mendoza. People called him a backup talent for no reason. Some said we only liked him because he was Cuban. Now he's an NFL prospect.

UM is going to have to fill a bunch of spots in the portal again next year and there’s no way Mario has another expensive roster with an Emory or a Luke. 0% chance IMO.

I honestly think its the right time to roll with one of our own. We should have a younger OL, obviously a younger WR core, and our backfield will still be very solid.

We can save a few bucks on a QB and throw it at another OL or two, to solidify the protection. At this point, especially after a strong season, we should be able to draw top OL talent from the portal showing how solid our development is.

Maybe even convince Fletch to stay another year.

The portal just started, so what happened 5-7 years ago is meaningless.
