DAILY DEBATE: Who was the best Canes assistant coach of all time?

Man….somebody in here has to at least mention Jedd Fisch. Underrated within this community .
He did well later in his career, but he had some head scratching play calling here. He was like a young scientist with a new chemistry set. Spent more time experimenting than actually thinking about what was the best play call for the moment.

My op, your mileage may vary.

Yeah…I disagree . He did well with the hand dealt him and I absolutely loved his offense. Attacked the middle of the field often and incorporated the rbs in the passing game well .

I liked that he utilized the RB’s in the passing game. That’s something too many of our OC’s didn’t do.
I felt he used bubble screens/quick outs too much without using them as a tool to force tight coverage, then burn them.

If we are talking just as the work they did as assistants .... It's pretty close among the following "First Ballot" Candidates:

Joe Brodsky
Harold Allen
Dave Wannstedt

"Honorable Mention" Candidates:

Walt Kichefski
Alex Mirabal
Hubbard Alexander
Chuck Pagano
Brodsky is an impressive deep cut. Played on the team with Lee Corso that beat Miami High for the first time in almost three decades. I only knew of him because my grandmother went to high school with him. Just did a quick wikipedia check. Amazing career.

Randy Shannon is so irrelevant that D set him on a tee and nobody even cared enough to take a swing. Glorious. Who's cutting onions?! 🧅

The offense in 2012 was solid aside from the K State ND and UNC game. Morris did get hurt later against UNC otherwise I think they come back and win and then he was hobbled against FSU. Also, in 2011 Jacory had his lowest INT total going into the final game then threw 4 picks lol.

We really do have an impressive list. Although I think with any big program if you have them 50 years to comprise a list it would be good. But Miami is unique in that in our prime we ran through head coaches. So multiple staffs. We didn’t have a bud foster sticking around for ages

Hal Allen is my vote. Developed 15 NFL draft picks in an era when we weren't a top ten team or raked in the top recruits.
