DAILY DEBATE: Who is the better player, Xavier Restrepo or Roscoe Parrish?

Roscoe because of his return game skills. I can't give you stats off the top of my head but I do just remember having that FEELING that he can score anytime he has the ball in his hands. X don't give me that feeling but I love him for what he does.

Roscoe's CAREER: 86-1355-12.
X LAST YEAR ALONE: 85-1092-6.

I think X is likely the better overall football player. Roscoe was more electric and was fun as **** to watch, but he was a little gimmicky because of his size. I still remember seeing him in Dadeland when he got drafted by the Bills and I was stunned at how small and thin he was. Dude must have had some cojones because he had to be the smallest guy on the field at all times. He was one of my favorites growing up.

Parish total all purpose yards in 3 yrs:
2,515 yrds & 16 TDs

Xavier Restrepo all purpose yards in 4 yrs:
1,881 yrds & 10 TDs

Parrish is by far the better football player. I would assume that if Parrish played in today’s era & he was targeted as much as X, he would’ve easily had a 1500 yrd 10 TD season.

great question ... x's numbers are legit ... but roscoe had superior talent around him ... tough call ... i guess you give roscoe the edge on the fact he had a decent pro career

This one is out of left field, but somebody asked me this on the Canes Connection call yesterday and I thought it was interesting. Who do you got?
X has him beat on production but Roscoe was on some good Miami teams back when they were all beasts. Hard to say but I always loved Roscoe. Both are solid

No doubt that as a returner, Parrish is far better than X. Parrish was a threat each time he touched the ball. X does not provide that homerun threat (as returner or WR).

I think where we disagree is that because of his build, I don't think Parrish would ever be as dependable a WR as X has been. I think us fans like electric players more (naturally) but coaches and QBs prefer the steady, dependable guy, of which I think X has Parrish beat. It's easy to say that if Roscoe had ever gotten as many targets but I think that's the thing-Roscoe would never have gotten that many targets.

I also think in today's game, with the kickoff return nearly extinct, Parrish's value would be lessened.

Interesting topic. Good question @DMoney.

Let me remind of u of the era Parrish played in, & u think he wouldn’t absolutely kill in today’s era b/c of his “build?” Lol

Plain & simple while X had a great yr, Parrish brings more overall value to the team as a WR, returner, & a runner. He’s what Brashard Smith was supposed to be

But that's my point. Those guys end up in the second unit in favor of the more dependable, steady player. Smith could never unseat X, despite the fact that he too is a better playmaker than X.

Maybe I am placing too much consideration on how each player would be used now in our offense. Because I feel we could have Tutu Atwell or Roscoe on this team and X would still run with the 1s.

This - Parrish was better and way more dynamic. The return numbers aren't even close.

Parrish led the NFL in yds per punt return in 07 & 08 (Hester was #2 in 07). Remember when we were good? Ha

Roscoe was 170/4.37 and Restrepo is more like 200/mid 4.5's

BUT - Given X's build & changes in the passing game - I wouldn't be shocked if X put up better receiving numbers in the NFL if he lands in a good spot.

After watching the 2 highlights of Parrish it's not even close Passhish by a mile!! Sometimes we forget how great past players really were.
Really, you think we forget? Sadly, that's all we do is remember how good they were.

Smith couldn’t unseat X b/c Smith didn’t live up to the hype. Lol.

U’re trying to compare a guy who was a 2nd round pick that put up absurd all purpose yards in a shorter period of time to a one yr wonder who may or may not get drafted. (& b4 ya’ll get offended, I told u what would happen w/ Rambo when u thought he was the cat’s meow w/ the #’s he put up in one season).

Like I get we’re in this age of recency bias, but my goodness, the stats show what’s what.

He'd have Kadarius Toney College production at a minimum.
