DAILY DEBATE: Who is the best returner in Canes history (not named Hester)?

K-Dub.

You had to be there.

And if you were there, you know it.

Rosoe and KW … as amazing as they were … never returned kickoffs, only punts. If we are going on combined punt AND kickoff returns, then after Hester (the GOAT), in my view it’s for sure:

first place:
Santana

second place:
Travis Benjamin

If it’s just punt returns, after Hester, then it’s:

1 - KW/Moss (tie)
2 - Roscoe

I could be wrong in my rankings, but I doubt it.

You have to be careful to use the word "never". Particularly when it is wrong.

Kevin Williams actually DID return kickoffs. Not all the time. But he did.

Kevin Williams had 78 punt returns in 3 years and 24 kickoff returns in 3 years. Before anyone writes this off, let's not forget that there are usually TWO kickoff return guys who split the returns, plus there are a lot of touchbacks with kickoffs. Yes, someone could fair-catch a punt, but I don't recall K-Dub doing that very frequently.

And, yes, I'd say that K-Dub was more successful and productive returning punts than kickoffs. But to say that he "never" returned kickoffs is just false.

Having said that, Roscoe ALSO returned kickoffs, but far less frequently. One in his first year, and one in his second year. But not "never".

7:45 Mark...as an added bonus, the dulcet tones of one Sonny Hirsch

That brings back memories of watching games with the tv on mute and the radio on to avoid hearing Brent Musberger whine like a little ***** because they Canes were winning.
