DAILY DEBATE: Who earned more playing time against USF?

i'd love to see pringle and upshaw get a look ... schott is tough due to blocking reasons ... but future is certainly bright

Fitzgerald
Pringle
Hellcat
Schott

Not enough carries to go around TBH with our backs, but I like that speed aspect. Just give em a couple carries is all. Just a chance to break it open.

As much as the fan in me wants to see young guys like Fitz and Schott get meaningful snaps, this is the correct answer. I'll take the guys that beat ND until garbage time.
Yeah don’t get me wrong there was a lot to like last week. Wiley. Schott. Luka (when Emory isn’t trying to get him killed). Pringle. Fitz (when he’s not getting his ankles broken by the QB)

But there’s nothing really to glean from a game against Bethune

Daylen Russell.

He was stout against BC (yeah...I know...it's Bethune). I'd like to see him get some reps as the #4 DT against better competition to assess his progress.

The season ending injury to Hayden Lowe and the uncertainty surrounding Cole McConathy (hasn't practiced or played so far this year) will force the staff to play Armando Blount (if healthy) primarily at field defensive end, which limits his ability to play tackle. Lowe and McConathy are bigger ends and would have played on the field side of the line. The other backup ends (Lightfoot, Bryant, and Pickett) are too small to play there, so Blount will need to eat up more snaps in that backup role. This now creates greater urgency to develop a 4th DT. Either Russell or Simpson need to step up.

Schott and the two Daylons. I see a lot of Fitz, O’Conner and Samson in the thread. While I agree they have all looked great- they have also been regulars in the line-ups in both games. So i agree they deserve more PT- but only a bit more.

Field End is usually the bigger guy because he has to set the edge.

I can see Fitzgerald getting more playing time. He should be out there in every high percentage passing down. Our plan should be to bully this qb into making quick passing decisions and Fitz should be out there with one of those giant baseball gloves.

In the era of targeting calls, I don’t think there’s another QB in the country who can throw hospital balls quite like Emory.

His greatest talent is putting his pass catchers in position to get absolutely lit up. Stares them down and waits until the defender starts making his break. It’s astounding.
