DAILY DEBATE: What conference do you want Miami to join?

The B1G we’d be treated as an equal, in the sec I feel they’d do whatever they could to **** us as often as possible.

Any conference we join, we're an outsider. However, I much rather been an "outsider" in the B1G then the SEC. The Tobacco Road bias we see in ACC would be similar in SEC vs. B1G we are a bit more of the "hot girl at the party" (even if they think we're "dangerous").

Also, in considering the "culture" from an institutional perspective / academics, I think B1G is a better fit too.

Finally, while we will have more cold weather games, with expansion, I think its only 1-2 bad ones a year, not 3-4.

Chances SEC invites us? 5% maybe. Chances the B1G invites us? I'd say better than 80% when all is said and done.

But that doesn't change that the SEC is by far the better option once emotions are set aside.

The B1G travel would/will be absolutely brutal — there's no way around it for a school in a geographical outpost like Miami competing in a conference that spreads from the Atlantic to the Pacific.

Easy for us sitting in front of our computers at home or the office to not think about the impact, but there's a reason why NFL teams with their unlimited resources often stay in a hotel between back-to-back West Coast games instead of returning home to the Eastern Time Zone. Those 5-hour flights are a serious grind.

If we got in the SEC, we'd play FSU and UF on a regular basis which no doubt would boost ticket sales and fan interest — not to mention recruiting (speaking of which: SEC Canes recruiting locally and in the South >>> B1G Canes recruiting locally and in the South).

We end up in the B1G and we can kiss the annual series with the Holes goodbye. Our most frequent in-state non-conference opponents are gonna be one or two schools among UCF, USF, FAU and the SWAC pair.

The B1G would/will be much better than the dying ACC is or ever was.

But the SEC would be far better

Pretty sure Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State (and ND once they're in) will ***** us the moment they get a chance.

Canes ain't got a lot of friends anywhere as we know.

The Big Ten schools don't want Miami as a member because they like us or see us as equals.

It's for the brand name, the eyeballs and to get a foothold in the state of Florida and a recruiting hotbed like the Miami area.

That's it

BIG, we have had historical match ups with their teams in the past (in the Big East) so it would be great to renew OSU/PSU rivalries. Academics align with us (their degrees and academic standards mean something).
Lastly, I would rather be in a stadium enjoying the game with people who don't f$ck their sisters/brothers, cousins and farm animals.

I hate the conference moves and the size they're becoming.

I realize it's a money grab, but I'm sorry, there's some really dumb people being very shortsighted with it all. Nobody wants to watch a loser and maybe this is the last cash grab as the younger generations (kids growing up in homes now) don't give a **** about watching sports on television.

Middle of the row SEC and BIG teams before the additions maybe had a chance once a decade. Yes, we have this NC or bust attitude, but having a goal of conference is still an achievement. Now, they're likely perennial cellar dwellers and that extra cash won't amount to ****. The traditional big money programs that have dominated for a long *** time will be the only ones in play, the rest will be fodder. The odds of those teams all winning like they are used to and want to, those will decrease and they're now a middle of the road team.

SEC over the BIG though. It's more exciting match ups in my mind. Neither excites me due to so many reasons beyond what I said above. I'm fine with a viable ACC as well. Independent, that's a death knell as this isn't the 80's and 90's where we were different than the others.

All of this is ruining the game. NIL and these conference alignments that are asinine.

What do kids care about these days?

This is an either or question. Its B1G vs SEC.

I despise everything SEC. But there's nothing appealing to me about B1G travel. Whether its Minnesota in dead of winter or traveling 3k miles for an away game at Oregon, it sucks.

The SEC would probably be better for recruiting too.

P2 Full shares? B1G

P2 Partial shares? Really going to see what is on the table from everyone.

Nobody leaves and we are stuck in the ACC? I don’t hate the idea of kicking out a few teams and shrinking the ACC to significantly increase payouts. Don’t need BC, Syracuse, Louisville, or Wake. Distinguish conference as ultra elite academic conference with ND, Duke, UNC , Stanford, Cal, UVA and public/private ivies.

Do a private equity deal/naming rights and get another billion into the pot. UM is the proud tenant of "Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Stadium " in 2028.

Or lets get crazy - what if the ACC is able to pull off a power move and cuts the deadweight, but gets TAMU (angry at sharing spotlight with UT) and Notre Dame to come aboard as full members? Money aside (yes I know this is the biggest issue) it would be the deepest conference top to bottom in cfb , so no one could accuse it of being a cakewalk conference.

We can finally be Harvard of the South?
