What I've found so disconcerting about some of the persistent Mario rumors (PR machine) is that it would buck the expectation that this will be a thorough search.

The committee and admin absolutely need to show a thorough search this time around. If they fake it, it won't work. Fans are already skeptical.

If Mario is even being considered it means the idiots have learned nothing. I don't mind some fake if it is to justify hiring Butch. I am more worried about the women on the committee. I am okay with Carly Fiorina for President but picking the UM coach is way to important to take a chance on another girly choice.

I already stopped all $$$ to the university, even changes the grandkids tuition trust to prohibit Miami. I was hoping to feel comfortable reversing that decision but Mario will lock it in stone instead. The only thing left that I invest is time on this site. Mario will probably end even that. It is impossible for me imagine anyone but Butch except maybe a current NFL HC, Urban or Saban. If they had fired Al 2 years ago, then they maybe could have played a game of chance but not now. The fork is hovering over us and about to be stuck in. Without Butch we are cooked.

and even then... getting out coached can be mitigated with a good staff of coordinators.

But I might be the only person on this site that values recruiting the SFL area as one of the biggest factors there is.

Only one team has won the title since 2000 without having at least one of their championship team's classes being ranked in the top 2. Auburn did it but they had a 4th ranked class.

65% of the championship teams since 2000 have at least half of their championship team’s classes ranked in the top 4.

The avg 4 yr class ranking of all championships team's since 2000 is 7.5. With none averaging outside 13.

You look at the so called modern coaching monsters and none of them won a title before they had top ranked classes.

Saban, Mack and Caroll have never won a title without a team that had a number 1 ranked class on it.
Jimbo, Urban, and Les have never won a title without a team that had a number 2 ranked class on it.

Saban didn't have highly ranked classes at MSU and never won squat. He came to LSU and after 8-5 season where he got shut out and embarrassed by Alabama (31-0) and people were calling for his head he pulls in the number 1 class and then wins his first title.

Absolutely the guy was on his staff with him at Florid and won awards in the Big 12 so he came in with accolades from a conference and in an area that Strong was not familiar with. -surrounded by Louisiana Arkansas & Oklahoma fertile recruiting grounds even though he really doesn't have to leave the lone star state

-inherited a top 20 recruiting class from 2010-2015 ... mind you 24/7 sports had then in the top top 3 recruiting class from 2011-12..

- 6-7 in his first year

- 4-6 in his 2nd year... so far

He has the better players playing against better competition in the Big XII and not producing...
Compare his athletes to TCU, ISU, OK ST, WVU

-They competed against Ok St
-TCU was a disaster,so was ISU
-They were up on wvu then just got outplayed

*Ok the ACC is weaker check
*He'll be in south florida check

BUT... Big BUT

He'll take a huge paycut coming from Texas maybe just above Louisville

He won't have bag men like he did at both schools

He won't have time to build anything like he did at Louisville the Texas fan base is giving him the same dosage of the love we had for golden this season and it's just his 2nd year...

He does less with more against good competition how is he going to doing more with less against average competition


What does he bring to the field besides South florida kids

I used to think defense and a coach that can make adjustments but I see someone that was thrown a lamborghini and still stuck in the drive way

Give me a coach that was given a rusted 72 chevy Chevelle an old school in the dumps and turned it to a classic.So when he get the keys to a Ferrari he'd appreciate it.Strong simply is not that guy.

So he beats a Muschamp corched Gator squad, after playing the softest schedule imaginable, filled with kids who A) can't get into actual schools academically and B) the rest recruited by a guy who is now banned from the NCAA, and does well enough to get hired away from the mid major.

He then goes to the Power-5 team, that had 8 wins the year prior, and 9 wins the year prior to that. He was given multiple top 10 recruiting classes. And then absolutely fails worse than any coach maybe ever at a school with such resources.

And this man is desirable to you?

Al Golden, who walked into a team that had previously less wins, ****tier recruiting classes, and a massive NCAA scandal, performed better his first two years than Charlie did. Let that sink in.
