Have any of you guys heard any rumblings or anything at all that Herman is interested in Miami or we are interested in him?

I don't know but I think the bigger question is who is Miami and the search committee interested in. We are Miami, so if we contact Herman's agent then he will listen. My fear is the search committee will overreact and classify him as unproven as they try and not repeat the Golden mistake. I really like Herman and would have ranked him number one if Butch wasn't a possibility.

What would make things worse is if the decision makers classify Herman as unproven because of his limited head-coaching experience, but prop up Cristobal because he was a head coach at FIU for 6 years. They'd have to completely ignore his 27-47 record, but with our luck that's what will happen.

If that's their line of thinking, we're ****ed.

Just the way he talks to people. Always a smart *** about stuff. Used to really dog players that struggled.

Do I think he's a good coach? Yeah he knows his ****... It's just the way he presented it.

I am going to start by saying my list is made up of those who we could get for less than $3.5M, so you won't see Gary Patterson or any of those guys on my list.

In this exact order

1. Butch Davis
2. Tom Herman
3. Doug Meacham

Meacham is 50 and has been a coordinator for 20+ years. He'd be a bad hire IMO.

When looking at Butch, are you only considering his time at Miami, or his entire body of work?

Meacham
Nick Saban was an AC/DC for almost 20 years as well. I think with Meacham you look at the past 8 years where he had success at Oklahoma State, Houston and now TCU. It is a risk and if I had to make the decision I probably wouldn't, but I think he would bring a dynamic offense. He can score points so if we want to get an AC that can score I am not sure who you rank higher.

Butch Davis
Butch Davis will without a doubt have us one of the best DL in the country. In all my picks they brought something in terms of performance. If we think back to Golden he wasn't known for any one particular thing and that is what he brought us. For Miami we have a lot of DB's in our own back yard and don't have an issue recruiting them. Butch is an expert at evaluating, recruiting and coaching DL. If we hire Butch we will have a top 10 defense year in and year out, and we can finally stop asking if he can play DT.

I also played for Mike Bloomgren at Delta State in 2005... He's the OL/ OC for Stanford. I liked him. Good dude, great teacher... Not a ****. Lol.

At $3.5M

I'd give Whittingham a call just in case.
Then I'd go

Butch
Herman
Rich Rod

If I'm going $4M

I first give Patterson Mullen and Whittingham calls

Then I go

Gundy
Butch
Herman

Butch
Herman
Strong

I like Fuente but I've heard rumors he's not interested.

I like Fuente, but there's something about his personality that tells me he'd be a bad fit.

Butch at 1 is a little high for me. He's 4th on my list.

Strong looks like trash at UT and I don't want that anywhere near Miami.

Haha, seriously? You had me rustled in that Fedora thread.

Can someone downvote dannyboycane's entire existence? I accidentally downvoted when just trying to hover and see who is ******* this thread up.

If we have unlimited money and not hiring from a conventional college power I would go with:

1. Patterson
2. Gundy
3. Briles

Butch
Jimmy Johnson
Mike Leach- Only bc I played for him in college! Not only, but big part!!

Patterson - He would dominate here
Butch - He is ready to finish the job
Herman - Sky is the limit with Miami athletes

Bruce Arians.....I WISH
Butch
Herman
IN THAT ORDER
