1. Herman
2. Fuente
3. Butch

I like Fuente but I've heard rumors he's not interested.

I am going to start by saying my list is made up of those who we could get for less than $3.5M, so you won't see Gary Patterson or any of those guys on my list.

In this exact order

1. Butch Davis
2. Tom Herman
3. Doug Meacham

I will say, I am not sure we get Herman for $3.5M. Dudes name is being thrown around for a LOT of jobs. If his agent is worth anything he gets his guy a fat pay day. Especially if any of those $EC teams are involved..

The last 3 I would want near the program are:

Kirby Smart
Charlie Strong
Will Muschamp

Have any of you guys heard any rumblings or anything at all that Herman is interested in Miami or we are interested in him?

Doug Meachem is a name that I haven't considered. Would love him as the OC...not sure about the HC.

I don't know but I think the bigger question is who is Miami and the search committee interested in. We are Miami, so if we contact Herman's agent then he will listen. My fear is the search committee will overreact and classify him as unproven as they try and not repeat the Golden mistake. I really like Herman and would have ranked him number one if Butch wasn't a possibility.

Already had a preference thread just like this.

Shoot for the moon:

Bill Belichick
Bill Walsh
Vince Lombardi, but only if Dan Coryell agrees to be his OC

If somehow we fail to hit on one those guys, then I guess I'd settle for:

John Harbaugh
Sean Payton
Chip Kelly

If the UM Administration is such an abject failure that they can't convince those guys that this is the obvious choice for their happiness:

Gary Patterson
Jim Harbaugh
Mike Gundy
Dan Mullen

If, for whatever reason, the world comes crashing down and it comes down to guys who have expressed interest or I've heard mention in terms of our interest:

Butch (depending on coordinator plan)
Herman (depending on organizational and recruiting plan, could be #1 )
Fuente (though some say he's not interested)
Hue Jackson (though we may have missed this opportunity)

It is fair concern as we don't know how he would recruit and run a team. He did a great job at Houston the one year he was there and was great at Oklahoma State serving as WR and TE coach. I see Doug as a potential replace for Herman at Houston and then leaving after a year or two for a better job after he does what Herman did.

I wouldn't mind a Meacham hire. He's got potential to be really good

I like Fuente, but there's something about his personality that tells me he'd be a bad fit.

Butch at 1 is a little high for me. He's 4th on my list.

Strong looks like trash at UT and I don't want that anywhere near Miami.

Meacham is 50 and has been a coordinator for 20+ years. He'd be a bad hire IMO.

When looking at Butch, are you only considering his time at Miami, or his entire body of work?

3.5m would be a nice raise for Herman.
