The issue is, as I concluded even in September, it should NOT be an excuse for the level of scorched earth we've seen this year. Everyone realizes many people didn't expect too much, right? Some competence. Natural roster turnover and cleaning out. Maybe a win more than last season. Not too much.

Again, Mario was paid a ton of money and given a ton of resources (to select good fits for the transition). That comes with a higher responsibility and expectation. You can build your own culture WHILE avoiding turning everything to utter trash. In business, it happens all the time. Otherwise, new CEOs would basically file bankruptcy and then start from scratch each time. It happens all the time in sports, too. There are multiple examples of it in college football this year.

A crutch?
For years @Cribby @SWFLHurricane @Boarcane, @Coach Macho Dee and others have alluded to a toxic culture/locker room.
It seems to have and has been a real issue. Par for the course.
I agree it can be a convenient excuse to only point to the culture issue as the reason for why everything that is happening now in year 1.
It’s a combo of things and mistakes being made by the admin, coaches and players especially by the OC that repeatedly throws kids under the bus.
But the culture can’t outright be dismissed as it’s an integral part.
Now if at this point next year if culture is all that is being talked about as an excuse for another poor season, I will be right there next to you.
The culture gets magnified as an end result of the poor hires made at coaching positions because 1/2 buy in and the rest don’t due to the battle within the team.

Lol nobody follows me around like a God, I'm actually one of the most disliked posters here.
And it's got nothing to do with "not getting what I wanted", I just want to win games & score TD's but yall are the ones who make it seem like that's an impossible task without having a roster full of 5-star talent & that's just simply not the case. But what's really funny is yall got EXACTLY what yall wanted but have chosen to make excuses rather than hold the HC accountable.
Ultimately, the only reason yall get so bent out of shape is because yall don't like how it sounds when I say it, but that's literally the kind of sh*t yall say on here everyday & that's why I do it.
But you're absolutely right, I've met my daily agitation quota so I'll leave it be & be quiet.

I own a small business with about 24 employees. We're very successful and my employees love working there. Culture is real and it's everything to us.
I think a lot of people in this thread though are misconstruing what culture means and who's responsibile. A lot of posts in this thread are taking this culture idea and heaping blame on the players or excusing Mario. That's bull****. He hired, by all reports, a toxic offensive coordinator that got zero buy in from the players. That alone took our bad culture and made it worse. That is 100% on Mario and is an epic, epic failure. In fact, Mario failed to get buy in from the team as a whole. That's on him and that's probably the most important freaking thing in his job in which he's collecting $8M a year. You can't do anyting if the players don't believe in your vision and ours don't. And it's not just a couple bad apples, it's the whole freaking team. He's lost the entire team. Mario may be able to get buy in by completely flushing the roster, but good coaches usually can sell themselves and get buy in and excitement from the players right away. Even if he can flush the entire roster and get buy in from a whole new crop of recruits he still failed this year in spectacular fashion.
Look some of you guys can talk about culture, or injuries, or lack of talent, but this season has been so unbelievable bad and has been such an unmitigated disaster of epic proportions that even factoring in that stuff, Mario as a coach still gets the most failing of grades.

You know there will be though. Love the culture if we're doing better and **** the culture if we aren't.
Best cure for culture are two things. Talent and not having some **** *** corching. Guys will go past where they thought they could for someone they believe in. They don't believe in this staff and what coaches, that's something they can only answer.

This is a results oriented business and the fact of the matter is that we went from 34 ppg to 15 ppg. Mario needs to own that. He hired Gattis and witnessed this mess of an offense throughout the offseason.
Whether he keeps or fires Gattis is inconsequential if he does not adapt his style of offense to his personnel. He can either choose to adapt or keep banging his head and keep this pathetic offensive output.
This is his team and he'll get his chance to make the changes as he sees fit. I just want everyone to keep the context that we went from 34 ppg to 15 ppg under Mario's watch. If we're in years 3-4 and the on field results are still abysmal. I don't want to see revisionist history on what he inherited.

We lost on Saturday due to a myriad of factors. The complete lack of depth and talent was the main one - and that’s not on Mario - but the horrific play calling and coaching in general also factored in, and that’s most definitely on Mario.
I’m not going to dismiss the fact that the culture of the program is bad. It’s definitely an issue an issue and has been for some time. But attempting to completely dismiss the abhorrent job this staff has done when it comes to game day coaching, well I don’t think that’s rational either.
Then again, you’ve made it abundantly clear for years on here where you stand when it comes to the composition of our team. In the Jagr utopia, we would field a roster full of 80 out of state choir boys whose melanin levels are nonexistent. And I think that’s reason enough to render your opinions on just about everything irrelevant.

Ehhh, gotta disagree w/ u on this one, brotha.
For the chit Richt gets, a 50% Richt was the best coach we had since Butch. For all the shenanigans that Golden left this program in after he was sour he didn’t the PSU job, Richt single handily turned this program around. Was it to complete standards? No, but Richt undid a lot of the chit Golden instilled. Richt was 26-13 here. Not a great record, but roughly around 9-4, which was a 2 game win & 2 game loss improvement from Randy, & Golden who avg. 7-5.
For the all the good Richt did 3 yrs, Manny literally reversed it in 3 yrs. Some of r u having this nostalgic moment b/c we scored more under Manny + Lashlee, but we became extremely undisciplined in all phases of the game which is y we have record setting marks under him. It’s also y every single one of his recruits sans Greg have been **** poor b/c his evals were **** poor.

I havent been on the board as much lately but who is "Yall"? I dont read many people on here NOT holding the HC and staff accountable for their **** poor job this year.
To dismiss the fact that we have a toxic culture/locker room...and that it does affect on field performance would be blind. To put all of our problems/results on it would be ludicrous as well.
Mario could have walked in here on day 1, rolled out the slip and slide, lit up a joint, put up xhamster on the jumbotron and been their best friend. If that happened, Id bet you a burger that we would have sneaked out a win against MTSU, Duke, and maybe even TAM. Whether you or I like it or not, he is trying to create a very different locker room/menatlity...one that he thinks will set us up for greatness...not above average. Step back to take 2 step forwards if you will. Problem is Mario ***ed up in some other areas to make this hill to climb a little steeper.
Saban apologized on Gameday this Sat for joking around with Bryce last week when they were up 35 to 0 in the 4th. Said no one should be smiling until the game is over. Period. Weve had kids smiling and dancing when we lose...and coaches letting them get away with it for years. Its not a crutch or an excuse..is simply one of many problems need fixing.
I not so sure that if people get bent out of shape by what you say, its all because they dont like how it sounds (maybe a few). From some of the posts Ive seen, you just seem very one sided in where you lay the blame. Its OK to spread it around a little. Coaches have choices...so do the players. They all should be held accountable.
