Skipped all the Nickster v Ariz argument. blah blah blah.
We're only 3-0 so crowing or hand wringing both seem a little silly. But since everyone is in a gloating mood, I'm going to point out the red flags.
@Hstokes1447 you and I had multiple discussions about DT depth this offseason. I AM STILL WORRIED. That 4i stuff only pulls a DT on obvious passing downs. So we have 3 DTs for 1.75 spots. It's not enough. No wonder Moten tires out in the second half. And WTF do we do if Blay or Moten get a hammy or worse? I know your answer, move Blount inside. But with both Lowe and McConathy out, we don't have any bigs left to spell Bain and Mesidor at DE. We were always too thin at DT, and I worry we could get exposed there with 10+ games to go.
No one has tested our DBs consistently, and when they do, we've given up some chunk plays. If OJ is being left on an island by the deep cover with the single-high cheating towards Lucas, that puts huge pressure on him. We face enough quality offensive minds in ACC play where they're going to scheme against that and we'll get burnt.. Poyser is still growing into his role. Someone's going to run right by or even over him. And Brown may be the new Amari Carter. Probably not. But maybe.
Also, I call bull**** on anyone here who denies that their sphincter didn't pucker up when that field goal kicker trotted out against ND.
The team is right where we want it to be right now. But making the ACCCG much less the playoffs is a long way out. And our season is a huge disappointment if that doesn't happen.
