Say what you want, but turning down that much money guaranteed and risking a chance of dropping in the draft next year is a big risk with how qbs get scrutinized now adays in the draft process. I don’t care how well off he may be.

Guarantee all you Mario hating sissies will be hoping Herbert gets injured next season simply so yall can AH HAH at Mario! Peyton Manning returned for his senior season and he turned out just fine, plus he had Lloyds of London insurance policy which I'm pretty sure Herbert has. But let's just hope Herbert and everyone else have a injury free career! No need to wish harm on a kid simply cause you have a grudge with his coach!

I’ve got my eye on him as a candidate for our job, but to be honest, he’s all hat and no cattle right now.

He’s spent only one season of his coaching career as a coordinator and it was just a co-OC position. If he doesn’t have a side of the ball he specializes in, he needs to be a Dabo-type CEO coach which makes it harder to win, because you need two successful coordinator hires since you’re a worthless bum and can’t oversee one side of the ball.

If he’s an ace recruiter, great motivator, and can identify great coaches, he’ll have a shot. He just has a lot more to prove before he’s seriosuly considered here. Two, 8-win seasons in 8 tries and a 35-52 overall record hardly inspires confidence. Hopefully he can pop at Oregon here the next couple years and prove he’s good. It would be nice to have a sure thing candidate kicking around like that.

Personally, I’d rather chase the next big offensive mind. A young, bright guy that specializes in offense. I want to hit on our own Lincoln Riley. I’ve been targeting Kendal Briles since FAU and he just keeps climbing. Someone like that excites me a little more.

IMO the next Lincoln Riley is Josh Heupel. Both Riley and Heupel learned Air Raid fundamentals from Leach but have customized it to fit their teams. Cristobal could probably be a highly successful CEO type coach, but I wouldn't exactly call him innovative. Heupel understands the qb position and can figure out ways to get the ball to the playmakers. That's what we need.

You’re correct.

I thought he went 3rd overall, not 10th.

1st to 10th is a significant drop in money.

Especially back then when the guarantee money was up to 50 million or so for the #1 overall pick. I think that’s right around what Sam Bradford got when he went 1st overall. Now since the collective bargaining agreement I believe That number considerably lower but it’s still a significant drop from a top 5 pick or so

We're 0-2 on former Canes as coaches. Let's try another. I know I burned my hand on the stove twice already, but I'm sure that won't happen again.

Nobody is hating. Just giving a different perspective. I see Wario has as many relatives on this boards as rosier does. Don't take everything personal.
 
SIAP -- isn't he coming back bc his brother is a tight end commit and he promised that he'd play at least 1 year with him at Oregon?

All the butt hurt fans on the board will spew their venom at anything, and anybody, just to make themselves feel better about their decision to blindly support such a disaster of a coach here. They spewed their venom at us for not believing in Richt from the beginning, now they are all dazed and confused on how a guy who was canned at UGA for not being good enough, is nose diving at blinding speed here at Miami.

So now they turn their attention toward Mario with their attempts to gouge his eyes out for a situation they know nothing about, to include what Mario said to this kid about HIS decision to stay.

I think ones opinion and criticism on this topic is not mutually exclusive..my criticism of this decision has nothing to do with Miami and out situation. And I think I can speak for the others as well in saying that.
 
If Mario turns Oregon back around, what makes y’all think he’d bolt to Miami in the midst of that success...do u guys believe Miami’s HC gig is far away a destination job over Oregon??

That’s my point...Miami’s HC job is not a better destination than Oregon. That’s a FACT. I think there’s a sect of our fanbase that is delusional to the reality of what our program has always been. We’ve never hired Estabished coaches with good proven resumes until Mark Richt. So to sit here and dream that Mario can get Oregon back to success and then think he’d bolt to Miami for likely less money and organization support and resources is lunacy
