Oregon is 5th in the nation in yards allowed per pass attempt and has an elite quarterback recruit coming in.

I think I would take that combo. Promise in the most important area both offensively and defensively.

BTW, Ohio State is a half yard superior to any team in the nation in yards allowed per pass attempt. You almost never see a gap like that from #1 to #2 in that category. Most recently was the awesome 2011 Alabama pass defense which had to drop all the way down to a surreal 4.3 YPA to better second place South Carolina at 4.9. That South Carolina team went 11-2 and finished 8th in the final polls

He's DEFINITELY being mentioned here in Bama country! Paul FineBUM said before the start of the season that Mario was running 3rd behind Dabo and Jeremy Pruitt for the Bama job when Saban eventually retires. And since Pruitt is currently CRAPPING the bed, well...

He left for a MUCH BETTER JOB! 130k per year as a tight ends coach vs a 500-600k per year Online coach / assistant head coach job. Go figure.

The Auburn game came down to the very end of the game.....an Auburn team who is one of the top 15 this year. A team that went to the wire with LSU and UGA. Plus Oregon was missing SIX starters and TWO second stringers against Auburn! Guy won his division with a worse case scenario of playing in the Rose bowl in just his second season at his 1st ever power 5 job yet the haters still talking about Stanford from a season ago! Where is Tom Herman and Matt Campbell ranked at again?

Which is nothing to brag about when you're a former NFL coach and Mario was a first time coach...in his 30's...when the program was just being born. But remind me, what's Mario been up to lately?

Mario's redshirt freshman second STRING QB is just as good as Herbert. And it's not like Herbert was a 5 star coming outta high school either, plus he's been with Taggart and Mario 3 of his 4 years in Eugene.

Mario just won his division in just his second year, plus he hasn't been a coach for 45 years like Butch...
