He was 14, the person we are talking about. He had not been arrested before, but it wasn't his first poor decision. Im not sure what number of chances he was on, but it wasn't his first.

So what should we do? In this type of case where a 14 year old does a decade behind bars.

What does woke cancel have to do with what we are talking about? I don't want to cater to convicts either, but they are people . . . all lives matter. I know this is a ****** situation that I have asked for help solving. I am legit asking bc what we have now is not working.

If US incarceration rates were to decrease from a capacity of 100% down to 70% so a decrease of 30% what would that do to our economy? 30% of inmates would no longer be inmates, and they would be productive members of society. What would that do for our economy?

No idea.

We see things a little differently here;)
First off I was comparing that the woke are a vast minority just as the criminals that can turn their life around are an even smaller minority. Woke idiots have nothing to do with this other than they are being catered to just like criminals in liberal cities

If we are bringing incarceration down in a reasonable manner that is one thing. But doing it just to hit a quota is the most dumb thing for society. It will make crime much worse. It’s not as bad as “defund the police” (hi Cory bush!), but it’s up there

But for your last sentence … how do I see things then? Are the woke minority getting their way or not (I just gave u an example of them eating their own recently)? Is gender pronouns and race/privilege not topics brought up in schools? Are liberal cities the safest they’ve been in decades? I’d luv to hear your spin on those topics

Okay, I understand the connection now!

I meant that crime rate was actually reduced with no bologna. Im curious what impact you think it would have on the economy. No shenanigans.

I have not ever asked a student what pronoun to use. Years ago I used "man" when I was talking with a young lady. I don't recall my exact sentence, but it was like Come on man, we are about to take a test. I didn't know the student, it was one of those end of class standardized tests. Im licensed to teach quite a few things, so I got to proctor a lot of tests! Funny thing is she had told her teacher earlier in the year she wanted to be a boy. When I have gotten to Eli Whitney and the Cotton Gin in US History, I share that there is some debate on who actually discovered and invented the Cotton Gin. And I make the point that Whitney's marketing team was just much better than others in that time period.

If you can reduce the number incarcerated AND bring down crime you are a genius! Those two things at the same time don’t usually jive together and usually go in opposite directions.

I think there are good teachers (u may be one of them) and but I feel there is a push from the top (especially in certain liberal areas like my town) to push certain agendas. Like we don’t need to make math more ***** (which brietbart had an article about looking into). I just don’t get the push for these more radical things when kids just need to learn the basics (reading, writing and math).

Funny story… at one point when one of my boys was younger, he didn’t want to get his hair cut for like over a year (he keeps it buzzed now, funny enough). It was pretty long and he was playing tee ball. This other coach called him a girl. I just laughed cause it was funny. My wife laughed when I told her too

There may be a push, but Im confident that the push is coming from peers when talking high school aged kids. The beauty about math is truth is found in the numbers. In high school the schools seem more focused on the test scores that end up judging their successes or failures.

7th grade is the toughest grade to teach. If you have a 7th grader, bless your heart! ;) Middle school otherwise is just a difficult awkward time for a lot of kids.

Before I started teaching 15 years ago, I subbed some. I subbed once in an elementary school. I walked in and this little girl said, we have never had a boy teacher before. I believe they were first graders. I remember a little boy and girl each grabbed one of my arms, I lifted them up thinking that will settle them down. Ha joke was on me. They all wanted me to lift them up. UHHHHHHHHHHH a small headache just recalling that class. Oh and moving the bears on the board, the one that was about behavior . . . holy sheet, don't move it more than one place at a time unless you want tears upon tears upon tears.

Needless to say, I never went back to work in an elementary school.

I admire your stoic independence brother, thanks for being a sensible center-right voice on CIS. But your second paragraph speaks volumes. Hold fast up there!

My twins just finished 7th grade and for my one son it was really rough. We heard that 7th grade was tough (from the teachers)…although I don’t remember it from when I was younger.

6th grade was weird because they were going to new school (middle) and Covid year with 4 out of 5 days in person (supposed to be 2 days but we got exception because of their needs… IEP). One good thing was that there were less kids.. so made it a bit easier to transition. But that made 7th grade worse… cause everyone was back and the kids were emboldened to just act out (bullying and loud and… well u probably know what I’m talking about).

Oh dude the red state **** kills me. It doesn't matter if the entire city cousel, DAs, judges, mayors, police cheifs are all running the cities with the highest murder rates. Its got to be the governor.

Ok, besides the fact that most of those cities are in red states, most of that list (even blue states) is headed up by republican governors or have been primarily a republicans governor over the years.

I see you trolling. No way you can be this wrong about a subject.

I’m trying to clean up my act. :).

You said it’s not the red states, it’s not the governors. Well, most of those are republicans. Where will you move the goal posts to next? If you want to blame local crime on local politicians? Fine, have at it but you were the one that said (paraphrasing) that the buck stops with the governor. Hence my post.

Like I’ve said … it’s all they have to come back with. It makes no sense but MSM has already parroted it out there… it’s burnt in to the dome!

Here's a crazy idea. Maybe look at the conditions that allow crime to fester instead of just blindly looking at the letter after the name.

NYC cleaned up and reduced crime largely because of the Broken Windows policy. It wouldn't have made a lick of difference who put it in place, just as long as they did.
