Manny ain't going anywhere, he loves it down here, built a championship defense and more importantly has full control on his side of the ball. Man it was painful getting to this point after reading three pages of Mapcane's & Telecabron's trolling, whew. Manny Sr. is a friend of mine, cabish.
:stormwarningflag-sm:
1. If Manny, Sr is a dumb enough to be a FRIEND OF yours, yabbadabbadoo, by extension his son is not nearly as smart as I thought; maybe he should go. Talk about six-degrees of wannabe insider …
2. The question was a hypothetical regarding UGA/Smart, who may have zero interest in Manny or his “Championship caliber defense that hasn’t won a single championship”. Read it again. And again. And again. You don’t write like the type that understands anything on the first go-around … and I can assure you that the practice will do you good.
3. Anyone who believes that money doesn’t and can’t change people’s minds … is naive.
4. I want Manny in Miami and would love for him to be head coach, something I’ve written several times; you on the other hand … I just want you to have what the scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz was missing.

Jimbo Fisher was literally hired under the same circumstances. Make Diaz the HCIW, like Jimbo, and he will be in Miami for the long haul!
You cannot compare Jimbo Fisher being brought in to allow a legend to retire vs Miami's situation.
Name Manny Diaz, head coach in waiting now and what you're telling recruits is come here and wait a couple of years until we fire Richt.

of course you can and you were wrong about 7-5 teams not having a HCIW.

not only that but you are limiting potential options at HC because you don't know who will be out there in a couple of years. What you do is let Manny know he would be strongly considered and be "tops" on the hypothetical list. If that is not enough to keep him around ...oh well. But you can't strap yourself like Blake has already done like extending contracts to coaches who have not proven anything yet.

Diaz is gonna leave to run Smart/Satan’s 3-4/ multiple front defense? Seems legit!

I sure did. What's your point? That Smart made a dumb decision? All coaches make stupid mistakes. The difference is that Smart is actually building something in Athens. The difference is Smart is competing with Bama. The difference is that Smart played for a natty in his 2nd year and after losing a ton to graduation, Smart had his team in the hunt for a playoff spot in year 3. Richt couldn't do those things in his dreams. That and the fact that making stupid boneheaded decisions are a weekly occurrence with Rick. Try harder.
Did i say Richt was doing a better job.....nope....just pointing out that smart is an imbecile with that fake punt that everyone in the stadium was calling out well before the snap

Diaz would be foolish to leave for anything other than a head coaching opportunity somewhere—as Miami is his dream job and cutting his teeth as a head coach elsewhere before returning to UM would be the only thing better than his current defensive coordinator gig now. The guy is in his early 40's and grew up a diehard Miami native and fan during the Decade of Dominance era.

As for someone here stating that Georgia could pay him THREE TIMES what Miami is paying—GTFOH. That isn't even close to true.

BoT members recently stated there's over $1M to pay a top-notch offensive coordinator, should Richt hire one. You think that same money—if not more—doesn't exist to keep Diaz? Please. (So to that point, Georgia wouldn't pay him THREE MILLION annually as a DC when Kirby is making $3.75M annually—less than Miami pays Richt.) The ignorance here, fueled by hatred of Richt, is rotting peoples' brains.

Barring Diaz has a good agent, he will field any outside offers and parlay that into (1) more money from Miami as well as (2) a head coach in waiting type opportunity, solidifying his tenure with the program, which helps recruiting, while also giving him a road map where his career is headed.

Laughable to think he'd leave Miami for the DC gig at Georgia. Where do some of you get this crap?

its real simple. the Mork Groupies are gonna cry and piss their panties, but the first really good offer that Manny gets... its ADIOS MUCHACHOS .. mark that down.

here is why .... Manny's stock is really high right now. He has the #2 defense in the country. Does anyone really believe Miami
will have a #2 defense next year losing the players we are losing this year ?

the defense next year will be mostly young and inexperienced. Manny's stock goes way down if he stays at Miami.
this is 100% correct @ mdp

Bet Kirby tries to get Brent Vennables first.Clemson can't offer the deal Georgia can.plus Diaz runs a more aggressive d than Kirby likes.
Vennables makes $2.2M a season. second (?) only to Aranda's $2.5M. Clemson is a CFP and NC contender every season, and won a NC.

What is Georgia going to offer Vennables that Clemson can't?

The same head coach who attempted a fake punt on their side of the 50 late in the SEC championship game?
So is he the only coach who has ever called a bad play? Or are you just attempting to drag him down to the level of Richt's incompetence?

I don't understand how Richt's offensive woes impact Diaz's reputation as a DC. As long as Miami's defense is championship or near-championship caliber Manny's reputation will remain intact.

Boston College's record was not very good when Don Brown was their DC. The Eagles had very good defenses (considering their talent) and Brown ended up being very well paid at Michigan.

True, but I think he wants the right type of job. P5, maybe even back in the SEC.

I don’t have a problem giving the job to Diaz right now.
If he is the a coach who cares about big time football then he should go back to the SEC. It's hard to pound your chest when you play in the awful Coastal.

You’re pretty strident with that post there. Only … Kirby makes roughly $7 million/yr. where did I get it from? https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...gree-new-contract-worth-49-million/578037002/

Assuming Aranda makes $2.5 and that second place is $2.2 … and for shits and giggles Diaz makes … I don’t know … say $900k. Then a figure like $2.7 isn’t out of this world. I wasn’t the one who claimed it … but there are quite a few schools that could conceivably double it if they believe Diaz is one of the best of the elite defensive minds (even though being snubbed for the Broyles…) and, yes, if determined enough, triple it.
