For those that haven't seen 2014 JUCO NT Cory Johnson from ASA college, here are his 2013 mid season highlights. Despite an early commitment to UK, he is considered by many to be a very soft commit, having initially been a strong UM lean.

His family wants him to go through the complete recruiting process and take all his visits unless of course UM is his first visit and he decides to flip to UM which I gather maybe their motivation to pushing him to take additional visits considering academics are a big influence for both him and his family. He has taken unofficial visits to Temple ( where he committed Golden 3 yrs ago), Rutgers, and PSU. He has taken an official to UK, an committed during the visit which may have been more a heat of the moment discission.

A late visit to UM would seal the deal for UM during the Nov 9th Vatech game or Nov 23rd UVA game, who wouldn't want to spend Thanksgiving weekend in miami with family when its winter in the Northeast. But then again school is finished for Johnson in Early October, which would allow him to take extended Official visits.

is that a new official visit? the extended official visit? didn't know that one existed.

I don't think it is, I think he is speaking hypothetically.

Either way, this is exactly the kid we need.

As an the school pays for your flight down and puts you up in a hotel for 3 days, but as for when your return flight is scheduled for is up to the recruit. For example he takes a visit for the Nov 23rd UVA game, the school books a ticket for Thursday Nov21 and a return ticket for nov 27th ( which would also most likely be the day the team departs for Pittsburgh, before Thanksgiving and Hanukkah). UM can only provide 3 days/nights of lodging ( thurs, fri, and Sat nights) then he would have to cover 3 nights ( sun, mon, tues) himself by staying with freinds, family, or hotel. But he would be able to hangout at UM for 3 additional days at UM as a unofficial visitor taking in the area, student/athlete campus life, and also watching practice. Then head back to PA with a well informed choice to make having spent a week in s. Fla.

you sure it's not 2 nights lodging?

If he gets into town later in the afternoon the day before the 48 hour official visit the rules allow for the school to pay lodging that night so the day isn't wasted. I provided a link to Write up by UM on the rules of the 48 hr visit. The 48 clock starts the minute the recruit steps on campus.

Once a PSA is on campus for an official visit, a 48-hour clock begins.* The clock does not begin until the PSA actually steps foot on campus – rather than the time when the recruit arrives in town at the nearest airport.* If a PSA arrives in town late in the day, lodging expenses may be paid for the PSA, but not his or her parents, without starting the 48-hour clock until the next day.* Once the clock has started, the parents’ lodging expense may be paid for by the institution, but accommodations cannot be much different than the standards for normal student facilities.* For example, hotel chains such as Best Western or Holiday Inn are perfectly fine, but the Ritz Carlton or Waldorf Astoria would be considered excessive.* When the 48-hour clock expires, the PSA must leave the campus immediately.* Transportation may be provided back to the airport, but stops for entertainment or meals are prohibited after the 48-hour clock has expired (NCAA Bylaw 13.6.4.1).

My God would this guy be a perfect fit for us and a perfect situation for his future draft prospects.

Cory, you stand to make far more money if you come here, play on a 2014 defense packed to the brim with talent, and are drafted to do exactly what you'll be asked to do here: thereby lowering the risk for an NFL franchise and increasing your draft stock ($).

Let's do this.

Cory Johnson is committed to Kentucky, but he plans to visit Miami and Arizona State officially before signing. He actually graduates this month. His visit to Miami is currently scheduled for Dec. 22.

Don't be a dummy Cory. Choose wisely.

Wait, his visit is Dec. 22? Wouldn't he start school pretty soon thereafter? Not sure if that's bad b/c it seems late or good b/c we get last crack. This guy could potentially make a real difference for our team next year. He'd also give Valentine a year buffer to develop at a normal rate. Even if we don't get Cory, we need someone "like" him.

By the way, Cory Johnson reminds me of Randy Starks' attributes.

It's great because of hi past history with the staff so he's already comfortable with them so basically to me we have to **** it up to lose him because he's not sticking with UK

How do you project Cory Johnson fitting in along our scheme? You alluded to it in the bold above and with the Randy Starks comparison, but I'd appreciate it if you'd spell it out. I love his talent but have struggled to put a finger on exactly how I think he would best be utilized.
