Corch Kirby Smart

UGA will be much better this year. Lots of talent returning on both lines of scrimmages, thus the lofty pre-season rankings. But I think they have a limited ceiling with the po-folks version of Stetson Bennett running that tepid offense.

That QB looks like he’s being figured out. He hasn’t looked good at all. They had talent last season but I think he held them back.

And Sonny Smart’s passing was a secondary factor. Without Sonny running his game in the high school circuits anymore, Kirby is starting to lose more and more influence. He had everything locked down so well with $$$ and his dad running the state, and now daddy’s gone AND the market is leveled out now.

Both UGA and Clemson slipping back to mediocrity at the same time is a beautiful thing. 😊

UGA has not slid nearly as much as Clemson. I dont love Smart either, but that's a bit much.

Except UGA, Bammer and a few others had a get out of jail FREE card from the NCAA. We almost got the death penalty for ****** Benihana steaks. Think about it. We were this close to even worse penalties than what we got, and for what? Doing 1% of what Alabama, Georgia and other schools did.

That’s why it’s different now. The playing field, at least in terms of what you can openly offer players, has leveled to a much greater extent than it was.

Clemson hasn’t slid much yet either. That’s why I used the words “slipping back.” As in, present tense. As in, it’s beginning to happen. Meaning it has not happened yet.

I’m fascinated to see what happens at Clemson. I was on board with them LY and thought they were going to be very good.

They’re back in all the preseason rankings again, so we shall see.

But how much of their issue last year was talent, and how much was coaching?
 
Kirby straight coming back to earth now that he doesn't have all stars three deep at every position...those backups are now getting paid at other programs instead. Gotta coach now that he can't just replace 5 star with 5 star with 5 star. The talent level wont continue to hide the corching.

Klubnik regressed. Was a legit runner the year prior and couldn't run at all this past year. Wasn't all his fault of course. They'll be better in 26.

Stasticially he had a very good year in '25. And he wasn't terrible last year. The whole offense overall was meh. They couldn't run the ball for sh*t (averaghed under 4 ypc for the season) and that made it harder for him.

Why are they going to be better? They're losing like 4-5 guys in top 2 rounds this coming draft. Haven't kept up w their recruiting but you say they're getting better while also bringing in a class ranked 30th and 27th over the last 2 years?

They still have dudes, especially on defense. And they've always been able to recruit WRs, Maybe not much better but they weren't terrible last year. They could certainly give us a game.

Their defense (with a lot of NFL talent) last year gave up 34 to Cuse 35 to SMU and 46 to Dookies. I agree they could maaybe give us a game, but to say they're going to be better this year with an unproven QB and worse defense is interesting.
