That QB looks like he’s being figured out. He hasn’t looked good at all. They had talent last season but I think he held them back.

It’s pure horse****. He learned how to pay players at Bama and he’s been doing that since he’s been at UGA. Just that the last couple of years they haven’t had that easy little competition access to top shelf talent like Alabama, OSU, and a few others.

Now, with NIL, other schools like Miami are in the game, whereas they couldn’t compete in buying players before due to fear of the NCAA.

Georgia doesn’t pay NIL at the same level as a number of other schools. Elijah Griffin could have gotten more elsewhere but still chose Georgia. Gunner Stockton maid a lot less than a lot of quarterbacks last year; probably just over half of what Miami paid Beck. Still makes less than a lot of other QBs. Micah Morris could have gotten more in the portal but he stayed at Georgia. Georgia was out bid badly for LaDamion Guyton. Miami is almost certainly paying Jamal Meriwether more than he could have gotten by staying at Georgia.

Elijah Griffin and Guyton were close. Guyton would be going to Georgia with Griffin but Texas Tech paid WAY more than Georgia was offering.

And Sonny Smart’s passing was a secondary factor. Without Sonny running his game in the high school circuits anymore, Kirby is starting to lose more and more influence. He had everything locked down so well with $$$ and his dad running the state, and now daddy’s gone AND the market is leveled out now.

Both UGA and Clemson slipping back to mediocrity at the same time is a beautiful thing.

Except UGA, Bammer and a few others had a get out of jail FREE card from the NCAA. We almost got the death penalty for ****** Benihana steaks. Think about it. We were this close to even worse penalties than what we got, and for what? Doing 1% of what Alabama, Georgia and other schools did.

That’s why it’s different now. The playing field, at least in terms of what you can openly offer players, has leveled to a much greater extent than it was.

Clemson hasn’t slid much yet either. That’s why I used the words “slipping back.” As in, present tense. As in, it’s beginning to happen. Meaning it has not happened yet.

Right now as far as overall football programs go I'd take Texas, A&M, and LSU over UGA. All three of those programs have better staffs and spend more money than UGA.
