MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread: Stories, Tales, Lies, and Exaggerations

Good news is an enforceable 19-team cap or 20-team cap or any number-team cap ain’t happening.

Schools with P2 options would matter of factly file their exit notices before any such bill would be made into law by Congress.

We’ve lost a bit of our renegade character. But I have a feeling that’s about to change. Soon. ***** the NCAA*
Well I think 5/31/27 is the Latest we will announce any Decision UNLESS whatever legislation gets passed A) Doesn’t have a cap or B) allows for a window to “announce/accept realignment” before the Cap gets put into effect.

Also I very much doubt we would announce anything before the ACC regular season and CFP team selection announcements are made. I wouldn’t want the ACC to do anything to **** is during the season…. Again unless legislation Forces action ASAP.

ADDING to my Apple calendar reminder. Thx

I will start keeping TRACK of this threads predictions and follow up ninety days later

Watching Flugaur it’s funny seeing the amount of “Can Stanford’s use its political influence to force its way into the P2?”. You can tell Flugaur is frustrated at having to constantly tell ppl Stanford is not very high on the P2 pecking order.

I expect things to "happen" once the next CFP format announcement is made. Just seems like the P2 will agree on A LOT at the same time ... and that announcement will "kick things off". Followed by the realignment announcements.

You are like 0/17,682 on this thread. But I guess even predicting Halley’s Comet daily you are right occasionally, so let's see what happens. Though i don't think a school would pay the exit fee for a half share at best. Key next date, imo, is the expiration of all current media agreements.

No way that conferences remain in tact as they are until the expiration of all current media agreements. There is too much pressure on the media companies to improve the game matchups that are being presented by the B10.

I will take Flugaur’s opinion over NotthernVirginiaCane all day every day because he nailed Texas/OU, UCLA/USC and Oregon/Washington.

These are his predictions and believes it happens in 2027 or 2028 because expansion has been so successful in making the B1G and SEC lots of $$$. Flugaur: “I believe things start getting crazy in early 2027.” We shall see!

Based on all of the information Flugaur has received through all of his informants these are his predictions:

B1G
1. ND
2. Miami (because UNC to SEC)
3. UVA or Duke
4. GT
5. Clemson or FSU
6. Stanford
7. Utah
8. Cal
9. VT

SEC
1. UNC & UVA
2. FSU & Clemson
3. NC State
4. Miami
5. VT
6. Kansas

I see a lot of very low probability teams there.

I don’t think ND will join a conference. Chances that Clemson will get a B1G invite are very low. They don’t come close to fitting the profile. Utah to B1G also doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Other than the deals being done, the deals are all done. Simple as that.

Who is Notre Dame going to make a 6 game scheduling agreement with if the ACC falls apart? Flugaur believes they end up having to join a conference.

My guess is a lot of Big 12 teams. It’s just 6 games. For some G5s it would be huge money.

if the ACC falls apart there will be a bunch of desperate teams who don’t get a P2 invite. Between all the P2 I am sure at least 1 team would also agree to a home and home.

Week 1: Navy (Neutral Site)
Week 2: Ball State (Home)
Week 3: Texas (Home - SEC One-Off / Home-and-Home)
Week 4: at BYU (Away - Big 12)
Week 5: Boston College (Home - Ex-ACC / Independent)
Week 6: West Virginia (Home - Big 12)
Week 7: BYE
Week 8: Air Force (Home - Service Academy)
Week 9: at Utah (Away - Big 12)
Week 10: Stanford (Home - Ex-ACC / Independent)
Week 11: TCU (Home - Big 12)
Week 12: Northern Illinois (Home - MAC)
Week 13: vs. Army (Neutral Site / NYC)

ND could even add a FCS school (mil academy like citadel or a hbcu) since one FCS can count towards playoff qualification.

it would be a pathetically weak schedule but how is that much different than how they currently schedule

I agree with your points. I still wonder about this other point Flugaur made, based off of the Notre Dame AD’s own commments.

I forgot to bring up the point Flugaur did:

“Is the ACC good enough for all of Notre Dame’s 24 sports to compete for championships after the ACC gets picked apart?”

Halley's Comet will turn us all into zombies.

I saw it in a movie.

Somewhat off topic, but why is the future always referred to as “P2”. I mean right now it’s P4 but when the ACC implodes and teams go elsewhere, they’re not all going to the BIG/SEC (obviously) and some will join the Big 12. So how does this demote the Big 12 to G status?

Look, obviously the BIG/SEC is where everyone wants to be, but existing power conferences don’t just get demoted unless they implode like the PAC-12, Big East, etc. That’s not going to happen to the Big 12 while they take in ACC refugees, some being decent programs like Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech (most likely). The Big 12 has actually done a fantastic job preventing itself from extinction. The ACC’s demise shouldn’t change this or hurt them.

Reality is it’s going to be like P2.5. SEC/BIG will be treated as the “1’s” and the Big 12 will still be considered a power conference but a reject one. They’re not going to be treated like the MAC or AAC (and they shouldn’t). But I also don’t see any of the current schools getting poached by the BIG/SEC. They already raided who they wanted from that league and I don’t think they’ll come back to take Kansas State or Texas Tech for any reason unless I’m missing something.

It is all about $$$$. Once the top 6 brands from the ACC are IN either the B10 or SEC, you then have a "best of the rest" conference that will either be the ACC taking the top B12 teams or the reverse .... but regardless it will be a conference that will not command high visibility TV time slots and the associated commercial value and therefore minimal media contract. The "best of the rest" conference will end up being a farm league for the P2 and they will lose their best players every season.
